HDI has completed the design and prototype rollout of hydrogen internal combustion engines (hydrogen engines), marking a significant step in engine development. The 11-liter class engine boasts a power output of 300kW (402hp) and a torque of 1700Nm at 2000 rpm, meeting Tier 5 / Stage 5 / Euro 7 regulations. Powered by low-purity hydrogen, these engines offer durability, economy, and energy density, making them ideal for mid-to-large-sized vehicles and long-distance travel. With a 10-minute charge, they can cover up to 500 km and are 25-30% more cost-effective than fuel cells or battery packs when considering vehicle price and maintenance costs. HDI plans to expedite commercialization by leveraging existing technology and facilities, aiming for validation on commercial vehicles and construction equipment by 2024, with mass production scheduled for 2025. At the 2023 ConExpo in the U.S., HDI will showcase H2ICE, EV battery packs, and plug-in full hybrid powertrains, demonstrating its commitment to green hydrogen-related technologies.
