MEET THE TEAM 5 Questions -Jindra Pavlista, Architect What has been your highlight at KOHLERSTRAUMANN so far? Jindra: My highlight at KOHLERSTRAUMANN has been working on early conceptual stages of projects, defining each design's essence. A standout moment was my first architectural competition, which offered valuable insights into the creative process and the dynamics of collaboration. Winning the competition was incredibly rewarding, showcasing our collaborative efforts. What are your five words that come to mind when you think of KOHLERSTRAUMANN? Jindra: Meaningful, Collaborative, Explorative, Agile, Vibrant What is your favorite working time and why? Jindra: One of my favorite moments at work is when we embark on a new project. It's exhilarating to dive into the initial brainstorming sessions, where ideas are flowing, and creativity is at its peak. During these moments, I feel fully engaged in the problem-solving process, discovering innovative solutions, and truly immersed in my passion for architecture. Which dish would you cook in the office and why? Jindra: In the office, I would choose to cook Koprovka, a traditional Czech dish often served on Sundays. I’d prepare a vegetarian version with creamy dill sauce over dumplings, bringing a comforting taste of home to our lunch breaks. If you could be a building, which one would you be and why? Jindra: If I could be a building, I would choose the Žižkov Television Tower in Prague. The tower sparked my imagination since I was a child with its resemblance to a spacecraft. It provides a different perspective on everyday life, allowing me to step back and see things in context. It symbolizes reaching new heights, both literally and metaphorically. #meettheteam #kohlerstraumann #architect #basel #switzerland

LAVA – Laboratory for Visionary Architecture is a network that exists at the intersection of architecture, inquiry, and the future. In an era of technological disruption and environmental flux, we leverage advanced digital tools, speculative thought, research, and diverse forms of knowledge to address complex architectural spaces with resource efficiency. Reflecting our hybrid approach, our new logo is designed by NODE Berlin Oslo and embraces the significance of the slash. \\\\ The Backslash \\\\ //// The Forward Slash //// This symbol bridges both programmatic and grammatical realms of language. Known for its simplicity in smoothing the flow of information across various platforms, the slash embodies LAVA’s pursuit of pioneering digital processes to open new opportunities in the spaces we build and inhabit. The slash furthermore grammatically signifies the availability of multiple options or choices. We believe in architecture as a presumed future—something that exists, not as an abstraction, but as a set of tangible possibilities awaiting realization. In our laboratories in Berlin, Ho Chi Minh City, Stuttgart and Sydney, questions are the starting point. Our speculative process frees the imagination—creating space for reflection, experimentation, and the exploration of new ways of visionary thinking. Join us on 31/01/2025 at L-A-V-A.COM as we unfold possible futures with the launch our new website! #LAVAarchitecture #SpeculativeDesign #VisionaryArchitecture #FutureOfArchitecture #AlternativeFutures

Architecture Matters wishes you a Happy New Year. We are looking forward to this year's conference with you! By always assuming that things need to be complex, we slow them down, make them more rigid, and strip them of their agility and innovative potential. In my view, this happens frequently in Germany, where processes are often completely stifled by excessive bureaucracy.” Linus Neumann, Chaos Computer Club ✨ A conference on simplicity in building – across multiple dimensions and perspectives. Last December, we were asked by Studio 8 1/2 to produce images for a competition project in Finland. We had a blast with this project due to the thought-provoking and far-from-banal architecture. The building design, materials, and the wild nature that embraces the building and is typical of that region form an incredible dialog. We were able to exploit this in the best possible way. Working on projects that strike a harmonious balance and dialogue between architecture and nature is gratifying. 3D Visualization by MINO Client: Studio 8 1/2 Year: 2023 #competitionproject #architectureproject #architecturecompetition #3dvisualization #3drenders #architecturebalance #landscapearchitecture

When we call #LEDvideowall, we mean it, because it can be mounted onto the wall and just become part of the space architecture. But it requires more consideration when you plan one in your space. Tomorrow, together with Exertis Pro AV (formerly COMM-TEC), Àlex Tomàs from our team will give an informative explanation on this #LEDtechnology applied to our wall mount series #LED screens. Sign up and mark it on your calendar, see you there! #avtweep #ProAV #exertisav #webinar #ledvideowall #infiled
