Where does creativity and commercial meet? This has been a hot subject over the course of the last year. We’ve noticed a dramatic increase in the desire to hire specific Business Development and Salespeople at the senior level. As well as the use of design-specific PR to drive new business efforts. We’ve also seen a shift this year when it comes to the core responsibilities of new Creative Director hires. Rather than the primary focus of leading work and maintaining great client relationships. A big plus has been looking for people who have functional sales and new business capabilities. As a cleaning company owner, operator, and marketing director, I've found that wearing multiple hats has been crucial to our success. By overseeing day-to-day activities, ensuring quality control, and tailoring promotional efforts to our target audience, we've been able to build a strong brand presence and stand out in the competitive cleaning industry. As the owner, I have a vested interest in the company's success, which means I take a hands-on approach to strategic planning and financial management. In my first two jobs, I did not have to lie to sell, I only gave the information I had and sold prospects based on facts. The first was selling interior decoration with my friend, and the second was at Interswitch. As I continued my career in sales and marketing, I realized a lot of products were not efficient or even ready. And we had big numbers and targets to meet, so we had to lie. I lied on my job more than I lied about any other thing in my life, and I h*t*d it. Sales and marketing can be ethical and responsible. Why drive your sales and marketing teams more than you drive your product team? Why is there no real alignment between sales, marketing, and product? Here are some principles for sustainable marketing: Customer Value Marketing: As opposed to stacking up sales figures like the Wolf of Wall Street, delivering value to customers through products and services that enhance their well-being and are aligned with ethical and sustainability practices. Mission-driven Marketing: Aligning marketing efforts with the core mission of sustainability and communicating this mission clearly to stakeholders. Societal Marketing: Balancing company profits with societal welfare, ensuring that marketing strategies contribute positively to society.
