Call for Applications for Demonstration Transport Participants for the "Demonstration Study on the Central Corridor" is officially announced as of August 1, 2024. The initiative aims to diversify and strengthen international logistics to ensure a stable global supply chain. The SPAN Central Corridor, which connects China, Central Asia, the Caucasus, and Europe through various transport methods, will conduct a demonstration transport study. The purpose is to verify the feasibility of alternative transport options that can serve as a viable business continuity plan (BCP) for existing sea and air transport routes between Japan and Europe.<br><br> The public recruitment period for participating businesses is from August 1, 2020, to August 30, 2020. The targeted participants include Japanese shippers, Japanese logistics companies, and related entities. The demonstration transport is scheduled to commence between September and November 2024, utilizing routes that connect Japan and European cities through the Central Corridor. The selection process will be conducted by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, which will evaluate the feasibility of the demonstration transport and the versatility of the selected transport means and routes.<br><br> Verification items in the demonstration transport study will include transport costs, lead time, transport quality, transport procedures, and traceability among others. This project stems from the "Demonstration Study on the Central Corridor" funded by the FY2023 supplementary budget and outsourced by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism. Participants will receive funding of 1 million yen per transport, allocated from national funds as "costs related to research cooperation."<br><br> Interested parties are instructed to complete the application form and submit it via email or traditional mail. The email submission should be directed to ahqt-intl-logistics@ki.mlit.go.jp. Mail submissions should be sent to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism at the provided address in Tokyo.
