This came out of nowhere, at least on my radar, but this acquisition, if it goes through, is significant enough to have an impact on the Cloud security market. In my opinion, Google will completely absorb Wiz into its existing service offerings, mainly GCP, in an attempt to leapfrog the competition AWS and Azure. Will a unified, Cloud native security platform become part of the GCP Shared Responsibility Model? https://lnkd.in/gxbx3UaF

#CloudHosting Vultr, one of the largest privately held cloud infrastructure providers, has secured a new growth funding round at a $3.5 billion valuation. The latest funding was led by AMD Ventures and LuminArx Capital Management. This investment aims to support Vultr's aggressive global expansion and enhance its offerings in cloud computing and AI infrastructure, furthering its mission to become a leading alternative to traditional hyperscalers. Founded in 2014 by David Aninowsky, Vultr has operated independently for nearly a decade. The company boasts a unique combination of price-to-performance efficiency, global reach, scalability, and compliance, making it a compelling choice for businesses and AI innovators worldwide. With this new funding, Vultr plans to expand access to its global cloud infrastructure, which spans 32 data center locations across six continents. "We are excited to welcome our new equity investors as we scale to meet the growing needs of businesses globally," said Aninowsky, Vultrs founder and executive chairman. "Our team has worked tirelessly to deliver high-performance, user-friendly cloud solutions, and this funding propels our efforts to the next level." J.J. Kardwell, Vultrs CEO, emphasized the companys position as a leader in cloud infrastructure. "With AMDs strategic expertise and LuminArxs innovative approach, we are poised to accelerate growth in both AI and cloud computing, solidifying Vultr as a category-defining independent platform," he said. Boosting Cloud GPU Fleet Expansion The investment would align with a broader industry trend, as businesses increasingly adopt AI-driven applications. According to a study commissioned by Vultr and conducted by 451 Research, AI applications will push computational boundaries by 2025. Vultr plans to leverage the funding to expand its fleet of cloud GPUs, enabling enterprise clients and AI innovators to develop, implement, and scale AI solutions worldwide. LuminArx partner Tanisha Keshava Bellur highlighted Vultrs strengths: "Their leadership and execution have positioned Vultr as a standout in the cloud infrastructure space. We are thrilled to support their growth trajectory as a notable industry leader." AMD also underscored its strategic collaboration with Vultr. "Vultr's deployment of AMD Instinct accelerators and their secure, scalable cloud infrastructure make them a leader in AI solutions," said Mathew Hein, AMDs Senior Vice President of Corporate Development. "We are proud to support their mission to provide high-performance compute access for AI development and deployment." Goldman Sachs & Co. LLC served as Vultrs exclusive financial advisor for the transaction. With this significant infusion of capital, Vultr would be well-positioned to accelerate its global reach, supporting AI and cloud computing advancements while challenging established industry players.
