New study in #HSR from Katie Gifford MS, PhD et al examine the effects of a comprehensive, multiyear (2015–2020) statewide contraceptive access intervention in Delaware on the contraceptive initiation of postpartum Medicaid patients. FULL ARTICLE: https://lnkd.in/gEWaihMQ WHAT IS KNOWN The adoption of payment reform for immediate postpartum provision of LARC in Medicaid is widespread across the states. WHAT THIS STUDY ADDS The increases in IPP LARC resulted in more than doubling the share of women who had postpartum LARC claims within 60 days of a birth. CONCLUSION Direct reimbursement for IPP LARC, in combination with provider training, had a meaningful impact on the share of Medicaid-enrolled postpartum women with LARC claims. #HealthServicesResearch  AcademyHealth  Wiley

https://lnkd.in/gzfmbMrd The impact of CMS regulations on Adult Residential Facilities (ARFs) may not be as direct as it is for healthcare providers such as hospitals or skilled nursing facilities. However, since ARFs may also receive reimbursements from Medicare and Medicaid for certain services, changes in billing and coding practices could still affect their operations.

Primary care in the US can be a gamble, especially for African Americans. The primary care shortage has been a challenge for years, and it's not surprising that it's become even more difficult to get an appointment after the pandemic. Unfortunately, the situation is getting worse. Many primary care physicians are now working for larger insurance companies or private equity firms that view primary care as a 3-5 minute patient encounter. This approach doesn't allow doctors to take the necessary time to find out what's happening with their patients and provide comprehensive solutions.
