With Sweden's accession to NATO, a watershed moement, enormous shift have to come both for Sweden and NATO. Add Finland to the mix, and the Baltic front for NATO is suddenly in play. The Baltic becomes Lake NATO. And it will create thousands of well-paid jobs in the UK. We will also campaign for 2.5% of GDP to be the baseline for all our NATO allies by 2030. Labour have refused to match this commitment. Leaving our country in a less secure position. 6) We will pass the UK’s first ever Veterans’ Bill. Unelected Labour government will be forced out of power soon. A clear answer by the US SecDef to the question of a CHN military. We have to echo this statement as well as the ambition. There will hardly be a copy of NATO in the Asia-Pacific region, but to opt for alliances in the region is an appropriate way to maintain stability and to deter an assertive CHN!

The proper #EuropeanUnion to the Chinese position of blaming the #Ukraine war on #NATO should be direct and without hesitation: 1. Start aggressively reducing economic links with #China and 2. Accelerate the recognition of #Taiwan as a free people in desperately need to escape the tyranny that rules China today. If #Russia and #China are "cleaning their arses" with the #International #Law System why would the #West keep following it? We are fast moving towards #WW3. To prevent it, we need to acknowledge that this is the new reality and as such, major, #economic, #social and #military sacrifices are needed. By being proactive, we have a chance to survive the incoming situation.

Trump's opening bid for not annexing Greenland: Trump can only be serious about a 5% of GDP defence spending target if it allows him to exit NATO on the basis of increased aggregate spending by the other NATO members effectively replacing current US spending. Canada should put a credible plan together to quickly increase defence spending to the current 2% of GDP guideline, and do it sourcing as much European materiel as possible.

Before February 2022, I believed Europe was heavily reliant on the US to defend itself against Russia’s ‘formidable capabilities’. Therefore, arguments that Europe should ‘do more for its own security’ felt reasonably rebutted by the notion that – the US was so pivotal to defence that any efforts at European military autonomy wouldn’t make much impact, so why bother. It was a pretty unfair outlook to burden sharing with an ally in my opinion, but leaving that aside there was some accuracy. However, after seeing how well Ukraine has done for two years against Russia’s efforts, it is difficult to claim that Europe cannot defend itself. Europe can guarantee its own security, its time to relieve the US of its responsibility in the theatre so its armed forces can focus on other priorities further east. The US being a part of NATO and a major contributor to European defence is still absolutely key, but Americans should no longer be asked to lead eastern flank security in the way they currently are.
