Why we love London so much..
Tea solves everything: From a survey in the torrential rain followed by realising you have been given the incorrect keys, our answer is generally, a good ol' cuppa. It's not a stereotype; it's a lifestyle choice.
For us queues are a sport: We've mastered the art of standing in an orderly line. Olympic level, everyone has their strengths right?
How do you identify a tourist in London? They're the ones trying to take a selfie with a red bus while holding an umbrella, a map, and a cup of tea – because, priorities.
🤔 Philosophical Tube Thoughts:
Ever pondered life's mysteries on the London Underground? Like, why do we stand so far away from the platform edge, yet the person next to us is practically leaning over the tracks to catch the train?
🌧️ London Weather Wisdom:
Londoners have two types of clothing: one for when it's raining and one for when it's not raining but could start at any moment. We like to be prepared for all four seasons in a day.
🎭 Shakespearean Buskers:
Thou hath not experienced London until thou hast heard a street performer giving Shakespearean renditions of pop songs. To be or not to be, that is the question... but first, let me sing "Wannabe" by the Spice Girls.
📢 Join the London Laughter Club:
Because if you can't laugh at the absurdity of tube delays, consecutive buses, pavement splashes by black cabs and unexpected downpours, are you even a Londoner?
Drop your favorite London quirks below and let's celebrate the humour in our city life! 🎉🇬🇧 #LondonLife#TeaTime#QueensGuardingQueues#pavementsplashing#LondonSurveyors#PrecisionMapping#UrbanDevelopment#ConstructionLondon#ExpertInsights#BuildingTheFuture

🏆 As reported in the Sunday Times The Times
last weekend, Leeds has been voted as the best place to live in the north and northeast of England 2024. There are so many reasons why Leeds has come out top; it’s the UK’s biggest legal and financial centre outside London, it has the best-paying jobs in the provinces, ahead of Bristol, Cambridge and Manchester, and is the only city outside London to have it’s own theatres, ballet and opera house. It also has five universities that attract more than 60,000 students.
💷 For the above reasons and many more besides (schools, nightlife, shops etc), property in the city centre has been selling at record high prices.
🏡 Woodley Chase, on Wigton Lane in LS17 is a grand family home set in secluded gardens of a quarter of an acre. It’s a 20 minute drive from the centre of Leeds and very close to Leeds Grammar School. It’s currently on the market with Carter Jonas Harrogate office for £2.3m.
📝 We secured coverage for this stunning property on Carter Jonas’ behalf in the recent “What You Get For” column in The Times

The continued evolution of waterfront sites in Sydney. One door opens - new Sydney Fish Markets and another one closes - old Sydney Fish Markets. Thereby creating a new opportunity. #architectureanddesign#newbeginnings#waterfront#sydney
Expressions of Interest are now open to renew a 3.6-hectare site at Blackwattle Bay, currently home to the existing Sydney Fish Market.
The landmark site will bring together homes, jobs, and cultural experiences. Over half of the precinct will be public domain, while a world-class waterfront walkway will provide the missing link from Rozelle to Barangaroo and the Opera House.
This opportunity represents a once-in-a-generation waterfront renewal project in the inner city and a vital part of Sydney’s future.
Expressions of Interest are now open, closing on 19 August 2024. Visit blackwattlebay.insw.com for more information.

I have never hidden my pride at being from officially 7th Greatest City in the World (Time Out - https://lnkd.in/evSmrM3X -)
Liverpool City Region Combined Authority and Liverpool City Council should be rightly proud.
Growing up in 1970's & 80's Liverpool, it wasn't easy. We didn't do ourselves any favours (sometimes we still don't) and there was a clear dislike of the City's militancy. That wasn't without foundation but, thankfully, in 1984, Lord Heseltine spotted the potential and reminded us all of the opportunity that existed. Although it's not been a straight line, the result today is we are 7th!!
Some turnaround in 40 years.
I'm also proud to be from #GreatBritain and to live in the #UK
However, it makes me smile (with irony), when we see what is coming out of our Nations capital (home to the Mayor of London). Mr Khan may have won a 3rd term, but all is not well down South. The good news is that #London remains the 4th best City in the World in the same survey.
But there are issues.
Being in #financialservices, the effect of what is happening in the City of London Corporation area has an affect on my day to day #life and, precisely because "#money makes the #world go round" it is important that we have a strong and vibrant "City". Being a visitor for non-commercial reasons to London, it is also important that London's #nightime economy regains its mojo.
As has been pointed out by Martin Murray, "I remember a time when Liverpool would have probably been in the bottom 7, and this turn in fortune is, in no short part, because of its great #cultural#nightlife, which is now a £5BILLION -a-year visitor #economy, employing around 51,000 people.
Another great benefit to the North West is that great working partnership #Liverpool has with #Manchester. Imagine that, authorities working together for the greater good. If only other areas would follow the lead".
What Are the Biggest Business Industries in Liverpool - Tourism & Hospitality industries play a pivotal role, capitalising on the city's cultural #heritage and #entertainment options."

Great article on Evening Standard interviewing Justine Simons OBE on her strategy for London's cultural development, shedding light to the pivotal role of public art as a driving force in shaping our cities.
Public art isn't merely about embellishing urban spaces; it's a dynamic tool for fostering cultural identity, stimulating dialogue, and enriching community experiences. As cities evolve, so does the significance of public art in reflecting and engaging with diverse narratives and perspectives.
As professionals in various industries, we should recognise the importance of integrating public art into urban planning and development projects. By doing so, we contribute to the creation of vibrant, culturally rich communities that resonate with people on a profound level.

What to understand #commercialcontracting, as well as Pavarotti, can hit those notes..? Look no further than our very own Sydney Opera House!
A couple of years ago, this iconic landmark, underwent extensive renovations. This project showcased the impacts of meticulous commercial contracting and contractual arrangements.
➡ #ClearObjectives & Scope: The renovation aimed to modernise facilities while preserving the structure's historical integrity.
➡ Detailed #TermsandConditions: The contracts defined exact specifications for materials and timelines for different renovation phases.
➡ #RiskManagement & Compliance: Comprehensive risk assessments were conducted, and stringent compliance checks ensured adherence to heritage conservation laws.
➡ #PerformanceMonitoring: Regular inspections and performance reviews were crucial in aligning with project milestones and quality standards.
According to a report by the Australian Bureau of Statistics, projects with clearly defined contracts and robust risk management strategies were 35% more likely to be completed on time and within budget.
Understanding and implementing these steps can streamline your commercial contracting processes and lead to more successful project outcomes.
What has been your experience with commercial contracting versus contractual arrangements?
