I think I first learnt the term pig butchering from Ed Gibbs -- we both share a hatred for crime against people.. crimes that are often overlooked in the hunt for the next espionage actor. Pig butchering emerged from the impact of the pandemic on the casino industry and organized crime in China... it is part of a much larger horrible story that involves human trafficking, money laundering, and soooo much more. John Oliver covered a tiny part of this last week. I encourage you to watch and share. This is a clear and present danger in more ways than we can imagine. Check washing scams have been around for a while, but they're more prevalent right now. Here are some ways to protect yourself: ✍️ Use indelible black ink. It makes it harder to wash the check. 📝 Don't write personal information on your checks, like your driver's license number. ✍️ Make sure you fill out all the lines on the check; don't leave any blank. 📝 Follow-up with the person you wrote the check to to make sure they got it. #checkwashing #fraudprevention #scams #fraud
