A day in the life of a tester - last year, we released GeoCloud Drive, a new cloud service optimized for data transfer between the field and the office. It’s accessible within Leica Captivate via the Cloud Services panel. However, most uploads from Leica Captivate are needed after data has just been exported. Therefore, for the next Leica Captivate release, we have integrated GeoCloud Drive into each exporter. This means you can now choose that, once an export is finished, files are automatically uploaded to your selected project and folder in GeoCloud Drive. This makes uploads much faster and eliminates extra steps, like navigating to find the file to upload. It also makes our testing of GeoCloud Drive uploads from Leica Captivate much faster. The hydro industry has been one of the slowest industries to adopt cloud technology for data transfer and storage. There are multiple valid reasons for this: 1. It's never been easy to upload / download large datasets to cloud platforms 2. Hydrographic data is sensitive, and requires secure processes for handling 3. Until now, no one has successfully built a cloud platform that is tailored to the workflow of hydrographic surveyors, processors, and end-clients In 2023, Terradepth focused heavily on making Absolute Ocean the first truly practical cloud solution build specifically for sharing, storing, and organizing hydrographic data, and we couldn't be more excited about the result. Our efforts recently reduced a client's internal data-transfer process from 14 hours with FTP to just 4 hours with Absolute Ocean.
