We think that every Malaysian (or even Asian) would at least have one memory of going to a night market. It’s not an understatement that this is a breeding ground for micro and small entrepreneurs and also a place where they can meet with the community and promote their products or services. While some might think it’s easy to manage and operate a stall, but if you take into account the high number of customers coming in and out, you need to have a high level of competentcy in term of pulling in customers, serving them and delivering their orders. Imagine having 10 customers talking to you at once, demanding personal attention, you would either need to split yourself in 10 or have at least 2-3 people to manage orders. Productivity and Time Zones: Lessons Learned During My Executive Immersion Program at TUM Asia One notable aspect I've observed when traveling to regions with different time zones is the impact on productivity. Singapore, for instance, operates in the GMT+8 time zone, which is an hour ahead of Jakarta. This is somewhat peculiar because Singapore is situated to the west and should ideally be in a slower time zone than Jakarta. Historically, I recall reading that Singapore adopted GMT+8 to enhance productivity. By starting their day an hour earlier, Singaporeans can begin and end their activities sooner, thereby increasing their productive hours. My personal routine typically involves sleeping at 10 PM and waking up at 4 AM. When in Makassar, I adhere to Singapore's waking schedule but maintain Jakarta's sleeping schedule. This means I sleep at 10 PM Jakarta time (11 PM in Singapore or Makassar) and wake up at 4 AM Singapore time (3 AM Jakarta time). This approach extends my productive hours, albeit at the cost of reduced sleep. Additionally, Singapore's well-organized city planning, strict traffic regulations, and robust public infrastructure compel compliance and promote healthier, happier lifestyles among its residents. While Singapore's smaller size might contribute to its efficiency, there's much to learn from their advancements and successes, regardless of our geographical scale.

Are you ready to be entertained this week? Jakartans and visitors will be spoiled in Jakarta. There will be 2 major entertainment events happening back to back. First, it will be the World Cup Qualifying Match between Indonesia and Australia on 10th September at Gelora Bung Karno. Indonesia will be the favorite in this match because Indonesia is the host and the stadium was blessed by Pope Francis last week. 😁 The Second event is Bruno Mars' concert at Jakarta International Stadium on the 11th, 13th, and 14th of September. This visit will be special to mark Bruno Mars' third concert in Indonesia and promote his new song with Lady Gaga: "Die With A Smile." To all business-minded people, these events will bring enormous business potential. For example, drinks-related businesses like PT. Sinar Sosro, Danone Aqua and PT. Mayora Indah Tbk will record high sales numbers due to high demand in drinks to cope with Indonesia's hot and humid climate. Other businesses that will reap huge money are transportation, personal care, cellular phones, and apparel, and oh, have I mentioned pinjol (with salary in Jakarta, some people surely need financial support for entertainment)?
