😍 So happy and grateful to be back to school! Thank you Taufik Akhbar for inviting me to be the judge for National Marketing Plan Competition at Creativepreneur, Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta. ✅ Although I am becoming a Judge for the National Marketing Plan Competition, several things that I have realised and learned along the way could be the insights for students/fresh graduates when they make a Marketing Plan: 1️⃣ The way entrepreneur/professional think is very different from academics, in a way that there are several components in the Plan that they focus on, for example ROI - how much money I need to spend on executing the marketing plan and how much I can acquire, Payback Period - how fast, and the 'Big Ideas'. 2️⃣ The Campaign Big Idea can only be determined when the consistency of Why-What-How is pretty clear. Put much effort into 'Why' as the key fundamental to finally get the 'What' and then 'How'. 3️⃣ Put more effort on Numbers. Ideas are abundant, everyone can just throw away any ideas. But the most important thing for a Marketing Plan is execution. So, when you make a Plan for retail products, knowing the information of how many competitors stacked which affect store visibility is a key; for F&B product, knowing the supply commodity price and its competitors is essential; and for Services product, knowing the customer journey pain points would be a priority. 4️⃣ Do not market to everybody. You are basically marketing it to nobody. Choosing the biggest target market for your plan first would be easier. Then tailoring the 'What' and 'How' to WIN that market. 🌸 All in all, I am very happy knowing the great Marketing Plan that these finalists have put into place. Congratulations for coming this far, and Remember that your Learning Journey never ends! 🎉 Special applause for finalists coming from Universitas Andalas and Politeknik Manufaktur Negeri Bangka Belitung which are outside of Java/Bali and I think facing huge challenge in joining this competition, and finally could come to the finals! It wasn't in any research deck. It was in hearing "makan bareng yuk" and seeing how meals turned into moments of connection. Families made udon outings part of their weekend ritual. Quick lunches transformed into hour-long conversations. These insights reshaped Marugame's strategy, aligning it with Indonesia's cultural values of togetherness. By understanding that food is about more than just eating, we positioned Marugame as a place where people connect over meals. My approach to strategy? Don't just research the audience—be the audience. Looking for strategic planning roles where I can help brands build deeper cultural connections with their audience.
