Last week, I had the privilege of facilitating a workshop for our fantastic Asia Pacific team at the picturesque Awana Genting in Malaysia. The spirit of the workshop revolved around the core values of Brand Dorf Ketal. While the workshop spanned just a few days, the preparation process began a month prior. We followed the "3 A" model: 1. Assess: We started with a thorough needs assessment for the team, using a scientific approach to identify their strengths and development areas. By partnering with a world-class assessment tool, we ensured the most accurate and effective results. 2. Act: This phase involved one-on-one feedback and action planning. We curated the workshop content to address the performance gaps identified in the Assess phase. By working closely with stakeholders, we ensured the content aligned with broader pain points. 3. Apply: This phase marked the start of the experiential workshop, empowering participants to create their own learning journeys. We committed to supporting them with regular feedback, coaching, and online learning resources. The workshop featured experiential activities to allow the participants to learn as an adult. Participants included our business team members from Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, the Philippines, and Vietnam. Empowerment and Care were the key themes, fostering a supportive and thriving work culture beyond the bottom line. This intervention is a testament to Dorf Ketal's strong merit-based culture and underscores our firm belief that investing in our talent is the key to building a sustainable business. By nurturing and developing our talent, we build a sustainable business foundation. This commitment helps us become the employer of choice, attracting and retaining top talent. Last Friday, the Lufthansa Group had the honor to host the first Human Rights Officer Roundtable, organized in collaboration with econsense. Numerous human rights officers from various industries came together to discuss their roles and organizational structures, as well as challenges and opportunities with regards to implementing the German Supply Chain Act (LkSG). Establishing this roundtable was of particular importance to me, as I believe that learning from each other on a peer-level is key to helping our companies advance in the field of ESG. There's the quote it's not the destination, it's the journey. For the past two years, I've had the privilege of working alongside exceptional advocates and steering committee members of the 30% Club Malaysia who share a common vision – to champion for gender parity in boardrooms. This year in June, Malaysia hit the 30% milestone on aggregate for the largest 100 PLCs, possibly the first country in Southeast Asia to do so (Singapore: 23%). Reflecting on my advocacy experience, what stood out for me, personally? Together with the comms team, achieved 100 pieces of media coverage of the 30% Club over the last two years including coverage in Singapore and a series of op-eds in The Edge ESG section advocating Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI). Thank you to Zhai Yun (Nat) Tan of The Edge for giving DEI more prominence this year. Think DEI, think the 30% Club. The other highlight was to submit a response to Bursa Malaysia on its consultation paper on TCFD (Taskforce on Climate-related Financial Disclosures). Advocated for disclosures on gender pay equity as prescribed by the GRI. Sensitive as the topic on compensation can be, I hope more companies will step up on voluntary disclosure. The quest for equity in Malaysia remains a significant undertaking, with Prime Minister Anwar's vision encapsulated in Malaysia MADANI. It is a reminder that much work lies ahead in closing gaps, not just on gender, and the 30% Club can be a catalyst. May it continue to scale new heights, and shape a future that is inclusive for all!
