Most users only notice the UI design of an app or software when something goes wrong. For this reason, we can say that good UI design is almost invisible, leaving the user free to get down to work without interruption. And as diverse as UI design projects can be, all good examples of UI design tend to follow the same basic golden rules. #uidesign #websitedesign #website

Understanding Visual Hierarchy in UI Design: F and Z Patterns: When designing user interfaces for websites or mobile apps, mastering visual hierarchy is key to guiding users’ attention. Two common reading patterns are the F-pattern and Z-pattern. F-Pattern: Mostly used in content-heavy layouts like blogs or articles, where users scan the page in an F-shape. They start at the top, scan across, move down, and repeat in shorter sweeps. This works well for text-based content. Z-Pattern: Ideal for simpler designs with fewer elements. Users scan from the top-left to the top-right, then diagonally down to the bottom-left and finally across to the bottom-right. This pattern is effective for landing pages with a clear CTA. By applying these patterns, you can create intuitive layouts that align with users' natural reading habits and improve engagement. #UIDesign #UXDesign #VisualHierarchy #DesignPatterns #FPattern #ZPattern #WebDesign #MobileDesign

Have you ever been pleasantly surprised at how effortlessly you can navigate through some apps or websites? I had an 'aha' moment recently about why this happens, and I'd love to share it with you. While tinkering on UI for our app, I stumbled upon the concept of 'Recognition vs. Recall' in user interfaces. It's not just a tech thing; it's something we all experience daily. Recognition over Recall - What's That? Think about when you spot a familiar face. That instant 'I know you!' feeling? That's recognition. Now, trying to remember their name, especially if it's someone you met years ago, is recall. A bit tougher, right? Why Should We Care in UI Design? Well, this got me thinking about the apps and websites I love using. I realized they all have something in common: they make it easy to recognize what to do next, not recall. Like seeing a list of options and instantly knowing which one to click. Real-Life Example from My Workbench Take logging into a site. Ever forgot your password? That's recall being tricky. But when your browser shows a list of saved passwords, and you immediately find yours – that's the comfort of recognition. How This Changed My Approach I used to focus a lot on making everything 'feature-rich'. But realizing how powerful recognition is, I am aiming to go ahead with design interfaces that feel familiar and intuitive. It's about helping my users navigate smoothly without them needing to remember complex steps. A Small Change, A Big Impact This insight shifted my perspective. It's not about packing features; it's about creating experiences that feel like second nature to users. Next time you find an app easy to use, notice if it's guiding you with recognition. The biggest unlock of HTMX is partial page re-renders from Server-Side Rendered HTML. For webdev this means you can: * Build your site like a Multi-Page Application (read: simple) * Sprinkle in HTMX where rerenders are useful * Achieve UX of a modern web app for very little added complexity The State of HTMX (2024): https://lnkd.in/e6hmuC-e #htmx

Lead product design consultant, UI/UX design | Design Thinking Practitioner | Figma Designer | Design Systems | SaaS Projects
Here are 3 rules I strictly tell myself whenever I design any App or Sass Product 1. Always keep the end user's usage or needs or their time in mind not me not my colleague not the board! ----------------------------------------- 2. Although fancyness of looks are most likeable, in reality and practicality, the app should balance - Usability, Business goals & Tech feasibility (Timeline & Budgets as well). ------------------------------------------ 3. Consistency & Scalability - Ensuring consistency & scalability by using an existing design system like Material UI / Apple UI Kits / IBM Design System etc. or creating one from scratch! Want some help with UI/UX Design in your App or Website? Let's talk! #UIDesign #UIUX #MobileApps #SaasProducts #DesignSystem
