According to ZMG Ward Howell's RTI Hiring Difficulty Scale data for August 2023, a significant transformation in ratings has occurred for five out of the 16 roles subjected to assessment, notably including brand managers and HR managers. These roles have transitioned towards the more favorable end of the ZMG Hiring Difficulty Scale™, primarily propelled by a noticeable decrease in hiring competition and a marginal expansion in the availability of skilled candidates. Despite the modest increase in the talent pool, it has proven adequate to cater to the existing demand, thus culminating in a shift in the hiring difficulty ratings for these roles. Might the substantial reduction in job demand be linked to strategic business choices commonly associated with the “ghost month,” observed from August 16 to September 14, 2023? Could we anticipate a surge in job openings in the latter half of September, and if so, could this influx be substantial enough to trigger a recalibration of the hiring difficulty ratings?
