| International Day of Education | Today, on International Day of Education, we’re reminded of how education has the power to change lives and shape brighter futures. But for many children in South Africa, accessing quality education is a tough journey. In the communities where Ranyaka works, schools face big challenges: overcrowded classrooms, safety concerns, poor infrastructure, limited parental involvement, and learners affected by gangsterism and substance abuse. These struggles hold back not just academic progress, but the dreams and potential of countless young people. That’s why Ranyaka’s Strong Schools programme is stepping up. By working hand-in-hand with teachers, parents, and partners, we’re tackling key issues like: •School safety, giving learners a secure space to grow. •Food security, because hungry children can’t learn. •Infrastructure, creating schools that inspire pride. •Parent involvement, connecting families to their children’s education. •Teacher development, empowering educators to lead. •Sport and recreation, supporting healthy minds and bodies. This is a team effort because the future of our children, and our country, depends on it. Education is more than a right. It’s the key to breaking poverty, unlocking opportunity, and building stronger communities. Let’s celebrate education today and work towards a brighter tomorrow for every child. #InternationalDayOfEducation #StrongSchools #EducationForAll #Ranyaka

Why is designing equitable schools, learning environments and workplaces so important to us? Maraea Hunia, our Tumu Te Aho Māori, recently spoke with North and South Magazine where she shared her stories about the deep rooted inequities and discrimination Māori have faced in both education and workplace settings. Shedding light on the importance of designing for equity, Maraea recalls from history that: “Native Schools were set up by design to prepare Māori students for low-skilled manual occupations and to culturally assimilate them by stripping their language. But even the manual and agricultural training was at a lower level than that offered to Pakeha.” Read the full article here: https://lnkd.in/gGBYfjgT
