🌍🐅 Today, on International Tiger Day, let's reflect on the importance of conservation efforts for these iconic species. With fewer than 4,000 tigers left in the wild, it's crucial that we join hands to protect their habitats and combat illegal wildlife trade. Let's pledge to support conservation initiatives and ensure a future where tigers roam freely in their natural habitats. Together, we can make a difference. 🐾 #InternationalTigerDay #Conservation #Biodiversity #WildlifeProtection

International Tiger Day highlights the impressive growth in India's tiger population over the past five decades, reaching an estimated 3,925 tigers in July 2023, up from 2,967 in 2019. However, this success in conservation has resulted in the displacement of around 600,000 forest dwellers from 1957 to 2007, due to the expansion of wildlife sanctuaries and national parks. This situation points to the complex challenges of wildlife conservation, where human communities also face significant consequences. https://lnkd.in/dR4DYzpc #InternationalTigerDay #TigerConservation #WildlifeProtection #SaveTheTigers #Biodiversity #HumanWildlifeConflict #EnvironmentalConservation #SustainableLiving #WildlifeSanctuaries #EndangeredSpecies #Indiaspend

International Red Panda Day is celebrated on the third Saturday of September each year to raise awareness about the endangered red panda and the efforts to protect its natural habitat. Organised by the Red Panda Network, this aims to educate the public about the threats these animals face, such as deforestation, habitat loss, and illegal wildlife trade. Red pandas are native to the eastern Himalayas and southwestern China and are known for their reddish-brown fur, long bushy tails, and cute, raccoon-like appearance. Despite their name, they are not closely related to the giant panda. Their numbers in the wild are rapidly declining due to human activities, making conservation efforts critical. #redpanda #saveourpanda #saveourwildlife #conservation #saveourplanet

As the conservation arm of Mandai Wildlife Group, Mandai Nature embraces the comprehensive approach that combines protecting animals in the wild with caring for them in zoos. Together, these efforts are vital for ensuring the survival of wildlife. In a recent news article, our CEO, Dr. Sonja Luz, emphasises the significance of the One Plan Approach to species conservation. This collaborative strategy unites all stakeholders in recognising the need for intervention and outlines the necessary actions from all parties involved. By focusing on efforts such as habitat protection, ongoing monitoring, and research, as well as collaborating with governments, zoos, conservation organisations, and local communities, we can effectively work to reverse population declines and safeguard our planet's precious wildlife. The NWAP is India's roadmap for wildlife conservation, focusing on: Habitat Protection: Strengthening management of wildlife habitats and tackling issues like fragmentation. Endangered Species Recovery: Prioritizing the conservation of threatened species like tigers and rhinos. Human-Wildlife Conflict Reduction: Finding solutions to minimize conflict between humans and wildlife. Combating Wildlife Crime: Tackling poaching and illegal wildlife trade. Community Participation: Engaging local communities in conservation efforts. This five-pronged approach aims to ensure the future of India's wildlife heritage. #SaveWildlife #NWAP
