Hiring for a sales role is never easy, but one mistake can derail the entire process: focusing solely on past numbers without exploring how those results were achieved. Yes, sales metrics are important. But if you only look at a candidate’s quota attainment or past revenue, you miss out on what truly drives their success. Ask yourself: 🏗️ How do they build relationships with clients? 🙋 What’s their process for overcoming objections? 🔃 Are they adaptable in a constantly changing market? 📈 Do they understand the value proposition, or are they just selling for the sake of it? Dig deeper into the why and how of their achievements, not just the what. A strong sales candidate will be able to articulate and adapt their strategy, approach, and mindset, not just their numbers. Remember, great salespeople aren’t just about hitting targets. They’re about building trust, solving problems, and delivering long-term solution based value. #SalesHiring #InterviewTips #SalesRecruitment #SalesSkills #Hiring

Advisor to Founders and Sales Leaders + Expert on Sales Hiring | 3 exits | 200 sales teams assessed | 2x Author
#hiring more #sales reps is rarely the answer to growing your business. I'm asked to assess a sales team about 15 times a year. These sales teams are generally successful, but their leader recognizes that more could be accomplished. The companies are financially sound, with plenty of cash to invest in sales growth. So what's the problem with doubling down on what's working and hiring more salespeople? It doesn't scale. It can create linear growth, but not geometric growth. Many of you are reading this and realizing it's happening in your business. So if hiring more reps isn't the answer, then what's the secret? Better support for the reps you've already hired. As your sales team becomes more successful, they have more orders, customers, and administrative responsibilities. Processing orders, responding to customers, and completing reports are important work, but it's not sales and should be done by other people and technology--not salespeople. Your best salespeople are expensive. They should be doing the work of creating more customers. But unfortunately, their previous success has them doing things that aren't growing your company. Fix this. Don't hire more salespeople.

Hiring sales talent is a challenge. Attracting the right candidates for your specific sales role is next to impossible, if you have not defined what the new hire must do well. I am not referring to a list of responsibilities and accountabilities. What skills do they need? 👉 Must they hunt for all new business or are you giving them accounts? 👉 Do they need to reach the C-Suite, not procurement? 👉 Is your offering premium, and the rep must sell value not price? This is just one of the secrets we share in our Sales Hiring Secrets program. If you are hiring salespeople the same way you hire everyone else in the company, it is unlikely you will hire top sales talent. Sales Hiring Secrets will give you the tools to integrate a simple new approach to hiring sales talent who will preform in the sales role you need to fill. You will learn all the secrets, and get the scripts and templates to attract, screen, interview, hire and retain top salespeople. It is a game changer. Get the info here: https://lnkd.in/eeDR9QVy

When it comes to building a strong sales team, hiring the right sales representative is crucial. However, many people underestimate the intricacies involved in this process. Here’s a reality check on some common thoughts versus the actual challenges: Thought: "It’s all about finding someone who can talk well." Reality: Effective communication is key, but it's just the tip of the iceberg. A good sales rep also needs to be adaptable, strategic, and have a deep understanding of customer needs and market dynamics. Thought: "The best salespeople can sell anything." Reality: Sales success often depends on a rep's alignment with the product and company culture. A stellar track record in one type of sales role doesn't guarantee success in another. Thought: "Once you hire them, they’re good to go." Reality: Even the most experienced sales reps need a thorough onboarding process to understand new products and integrate into the team. Ongoing training and development are essential. Thought: "It’s a quick process to fill a sales position." Reality: Rushing to fill a sales position can lead to costly hiring mistakes. It's important to take the time to find the right fit, which includes assessing skills, cultural fit, and long-term potential. Recruiting the right sales representative requires a strategic approach and an understanding of the nuanced needs of your sales team and business goals. At Terrelonge Staffing Solutions, we specialize in not just filling positions but in creating powerful, effective sales teams tailored to your company’s unique needs. #SalesRecruitment #HiringChallenges #BusinessGrowth #StaffingSolutions #SalesTeam

Hiring the right sales person can be a significant challenge when starting a sales program. Being swayed by a salesperson's past success is common, especially without experience in recruiting for sales roles. Hiring the wrong person can lead to lost productivity and turnover costs. #Sales #Recruiting #BusinessTips

Ever wonder why top B2B sales reps have higher incomes than 90% of Americans? Let's count. 1.) The job requires daily discipline. 2.) Part mindset and part skill. 3.) Easy to be average. Want to attract top sales talent? 1.) Hire Women. 2.) Look at unconventional backgrounds, my favorite bartenders, veterans, and athletes. 3.) Pull from other departments. 4.) List the actual Base Salary. 5.) Have accurate and obtainable OTE. If you only hire sales talent from traditional backgrounds it's a costly mistake. The best sales talent I've recruited often said, "I could never do sales."
