How to tell if your wine has gone bad Have you ever held an old bottle of wine and wondered if it's still okay to drink? If you have, you’re certainly not alone. Determining if a great wine has gone bad and when to throw it out can be a bit tricky. Here’s how you will know 1️⃣ Appearance: This rule applies to wines that were originally clear. When a wine grows cloudy or creates a film within the bottle, it's probably time to get rid of it. The cloudiness points to bacterial activity beginning within the bottle. 2️⃣ Smell: It is often one of the most noticeable ways your wine will let you know that it's time to move on. These scents are often unpleasant and medicinal — like chemicals or vinegar — but they can also be sweet, depending on the way your wine reacts to external elements. 3️⃣ Taste: If you miss the cues of changed appearance and scents, you may notice strong or unusual flavors in wine that has gone bad. These flavors often include: Sharp or sour vinegar flavors, Horseradish-like taste, Sherried or caramelized flavors Say goodbye to spoiled wine and elevate your wine experience with expert tips on selecting, tasting, and pairing wines. Whether you're a seasoned enthusiast or just starting out, my insights will guide you to savor each sip like a pro. Follow me for more wine tips ! Do alcohol-free wines work? 🍷 For many we speak to, AF wines just don't hit the mark in comparison to their boozy siblings. However here at High and Dry we believe you’re thinking about it the wrong way. To start with there are 2 distinct types of AF wine: 🍷 - Dealcoholised wine which starts as regular wine. Alcohol is removed post-fermentation while trying to keep the wine’s flavours. 🍇 - A wine proxy which doesn’t start as wine but is a blend of ingredients aiming to mimic wine flavours. It’s crafted to resemble the taste and experience of wine, but isn’t derived from fermented grapes. Number 2 is a difficult nut to crack. However if detach yourself from the direct wine taste comparison and instead look for liquid complexity and mouth feel similarities, you cannot go wrong with a wine proxy. Thanks to the creators and liquid alchemists out there who are responsible for these creations. Aaron Trotman at NON , Charlie Friedmann from Proxies, Adrian Hodgson from The REAL Drinks Co., and Murray Paterson from MURI 👏 Did you know how alcohol-free wine was made? We always add a note about the finish (or length) of a wine on our tasting notes. This is an important concept in the wine world and while self-explanatory it's worth thinking about, especially if you're wondering why a particular glass of wine tastes so good - or bad! You sniff, you sip and you swirl before swallowing (or spitting!) As the wine evolves in your mouth it will leave a vestige of flavour and form. The finish describes the taste and feel of this. We are always looking for wines that don't disappear on the palate, but leave a long, pleasant aftertaste, reminiscent of the aromas and flavours we've just enjoyed. In a red wine, we might also be looking for how much tannin remains in the mouth and on the teeth, and in a dessert wine, how much freshness, compared to clawing sweetness. In a white wine we might look for the amount of acidity, or the presence of unwanted additives that leave a furry feeling on the tongue, alongside the positive attributes. In essence, the finish of the wine is as important as that all important first sip - and is a key part of the wine tasting process. Last Chance to order 2020 Chardonnay. Soon it will be for Club Members Only. Easily the most unique wine I've ever made. 🧵 With soothing notes of warm spices, hints of tropical fruit and a lively acidic kick, this light-hearted Chardonnay invites you on a sensory vacation—sip after sip. ☝️That's the marketing story. Read on to learn how I made it. https://lnkd.in/gXmnCF_d Don't forget to shoot me a follow or sign up for my newsletter if you haven't already. https://lnkd.in/g_uQ7NW2 Picked MUCH later than likely any Chardonnay you've ever tried, this is a white wine with full flavor and high alcohol (15%) To give it more complexity, I fermented the wine on the skins for 2 days. It leans into the character or an Orange-Wine with the versatility of a white. Once pressed off the skins, it fermented for 2 weeks INSIDE French oak barrels. Then I racked and added a bit more oak to the barrels upon completion of fermentation. This IS NOT a buttery California Chardonnay. The oak is not dominating. Instead it subtly caresses and lifts up the unique vanilla and fruit flavors from the skin contact fermentation. You've never tasted a Chardonnay like this. At least the Colorado wine judges hadn't. They refused to judge my wine because it "Lacked Varietal Characteristics"...which is what I was going for. Whenever Wine People with an open mind taste my wine, they consistently pick out this wine and my Pinot Noir as my best wines. Please reach out if you have any questions about placing an order. My wine is made: - With Minimal Sulfites - No Other Additives - Natural Fermentation https://lnkd.in/gXmnCF_d

Wine is a type of alcoholic drink that is produced through the process of fermentation from grapes. Wine is among the most commonly consumed alcoholic drinks in the globe, and the market has various types of wines. Hence, while selecting the wine, personal taste has to be taken into consideration. If you are a first-time wine buyer, then you may want to make your initial purchases that encompass a few types with the intention of determining the best one for your taste buds. You can also consult the friends, family, or even the employee of the wine shop you are purchasing the wine from. There is little doubt that wine collectors are more likely to spend a great deal of money on the wine of their choice in today’s day and age than consumers in previous years of history. https://lnkd.in/gsB5V6fN #wine #winetasting #alcoholicdrink #amazingwines #redwine #whitewines #sparklingwines #sweetwine #refreshingwine #wineexperience

How Long Can You Save Open Wine❓ 🔗 Link in Bio: https://lnkd.in/g2YWF7GC ⏳ How long do wines keep once opened? 😂 Usually, not more than one evening at our house, but for those who are less enthusiastic drinkers, it depends on the type of wine. 🥂 Dry white wines have the shortest life once opened. I find they lose their character after even one or two days, especially cheaply-made, oaky whites. 🍇 White wines with good acidity and lots of character from Burgundy are an exception, as these are often oaked as well. 🍋 Acidity is one of main preservatives of wine, as long as it is in balance with other elements, such as fruit, tannin and alcohol. 🍷 For red wines, I think that most start to slip after two days, though again it depends on how well the wine was made. There are always exceptions. 🍇 Red wines tend to have more tannins than white wines because the grape skins are left in contact with the juice as it ferments, which imparts both tannin and pigments to the wine, both of which act as preservatives. 🍭 Sweet and fortified wines, such as icewine, port and sherry, have a longer life because of their higher sweetness and/or alcohol, both of which act as a preservative 💧 You can extend the life of any opened wine by giving it a few squirts of liquid nitrogen, such as Wine Preserve, a spray can sold in many liquor and wine accessory stores. 🧊 Keeping your wine in the fridge, even reds, slows down the oxidation process. You’ll just need to take your red wines out of the fridge for 20 minutes before serving. 🍾 Another trick is to pour your remaining wine into a clean, empty half bottle size and cork it. This also minimizes the amount of oxygen that can affect the wine. Have you kept a bottle open for several days and still enjoyed it❓ Let me know in the comments below 👇🏻 #Natdecants #wineblog #winewriter #wine #winetime #wineoclock #vino #vin #sommelier #wineenthusiast #winewinewine #ilovewine #wine101 #wineschool #winenot #winelover #winelife
