In a bid to continue sharing knowledge, I hereby announce that the 3rd use-case in the Anaplan Use-Cases Series is now live. The use-case deals with moving from Matrix- to Vector-style data grid (and vice versa) when the two dimensions on separate axes are indeed components of the same Time dimension. https://lnkd.in/gJ2XNCYU #anaplan #anaplancommunity #anaplanmodeling

Work to get the data model right to ensure your #Anaplan project is successful...
We find that when we focus first and foremost on getting the data model right our #Anaplan projects are far more successful. This is what we have learned... The data model is at the core of all Anaplan models. It is the structure of the data imported in from other adjacent systems, the architecture of the various lists both flat and hierarchal, balanced and ragged. Its also the composition of each data flow process, the unique combination of dimensions we refer to as modelling cohorts and how these flow through a consolidation sequence before being mapped into end user reports. We have dedicated our time since our launch to learning and then perfecting how we design, develop and deploy fit for purpose data models so as to enable our users to enjoy agile, responsive and scalable FP&A model powered by Anaplan. Use of modelling cohorts and sequential consolidation allow us to design models which enable users to plan and take action when it is needed most. The module design of the data flows allows for expansion as new processes can be integrated with ease without interrupting business as usual processes. By identifying and designing forecasting processes around unique combinations of dimensions, which we refer to as modelling cohorts, we are able to create a hub and spoke like architecture. Each spoke refers to the each model cohort, the progression towards the hub the sequence of consolidation steps and the hub itself the final consolidation prior to mapping into end an user report. A new process which requires a new set of dimensions can be slotted into the architecture as an additional spoke. Where a new process requires use of an existing model cohort, we simply add a step in the consolidation process which maps into the existing sequence. This is how we approach designing, developing and deploying both new and the upgrade, redevelopment or refurbishment of existing Anaplan models. We believe all users should be able to benefit from simple, robust and scalable modelling architecture. In response we developed #LaunchPad. Our fully functional signature foundation model designed for FP&A, developed and deployed in Anaplan. LaunchPad includes an actuals consolidation model which imports and maps your existing actuals data so its is ready to report on. It includes scenario planning functionality to enable more nuanced decision making and a P&L variance report to view their impact. At the core of LaunchPad is a data model and architecture which leverages all of our best research gathered while working on some of the most challenging and complex model rebuilds for global business at the leading edge of their respective sectors. A stable yet agile, robust yet responsive and fit for purpose data model is at the heart of all successful Anaplan models. 🌟𝗡𝗲𝘅𝘁 𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗽 𝗶𝗻 𝗔𝗻𝗮𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗻 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘀 𝗙𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: 𝗦𝗼𝗹𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗔𝗿𝗰𝗵𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲🌟 After last week discussion of process description in Anaplan projects today we would like to move to Solution Architecture and the instrument for it – Solution Architecture Scheme. While process description maps out the procedural aspects of a business process, the Solution Architecture Scheme takes it a step further by translating these processes into tangible model blocks within Anaplan. Let's delve into why this step is indispensable: ⚙️ Optimized Model Performance: The Solution Architecture Scheme serves as the blueprint guiding the development of Anaplan models. By delineating the structure and relationships between various components, it facilitates the creation of a streamlined and efficient model architecture. This, in turn, contributes to enhanced performance. 🔧 Smooth Building and Testing: Clear outlines of model components and their interactions enable developers to navigate through the construction phase with ease. Moreover, it fosters effective testing procedures, allowing for early detection and resolution of any potential issues, thereby minimizing disruptions during deployment. 📏 Accurate Sizing Evaluation: The Solution Architecture Scheme provides insights into the complexity and scale of the model, facilitating more precise sizing evaluations. This enables organizations to allocate resources judiciously and anticipate future requirements. Principles of Making a Solution Scheme: ✅ DISCO Framework: Ensure comprehensive coverage of Data, Input, Systems, Calculations, and Outputs that provides a structured approach to modeling, capturing all essential aspects of the business process. ✅Dimensional Considerations: Clearly define dimensions and their hierarchies within the solution architecture scheme. This includes identifying key entities, such as products, regions, or departments, and outlining their relationships to facilitate effective data modeling. ✅Calculation Dependencies: Map out general dependencies between different calculations and formulae within the solution architecture scheme for accurate computation and integrity of the model's outputs. ✅Optimization Strategies: Incorporate optimization strategies, such as selective aggregation and sparse matrix techniques, to enhance model performance. By considering optimization principles during the solution design phase, you can proactively address potential scalability and efficiency challenges. ✅Data Integration and Data Flows: Establish clear data flows within the solution architecture scheme by identifying sources of data, defining data transformation processes, and ensuring seamless integration with external systems. Very interesting thing is to compare your result Model map in Anaplan with you preliminary Solution Scheme – find differences and make conclusions. #anaplan #maxplansolutions
