I am what I am. I am what I think. I am the change. As an Indian, I dream of seeing India leading the world not just in population and democracy but in sports too. Despite being the largest democracy and having the largest population, our medal tally in events like the Olympics doesn’t reflect our potential. To change this narrative, I have dedicated resources to build world-class sports facilities. Our infrastructure includes indoor badminton courts, an Olympic-sized swimming pool, a table tennis hall, and a 10-meter shooting range. These facilities have already seen champions like Archana Kamath, who has made it to the Indian table tennis team for the 2024 Paris Olympics. As a first-generation entrepreneur, I believe in giving back to the nation that shaped me. My goal is to nurture future champions and entrepreneurs, contributing to India’s success on the global stage. We need world-class sports facilities every 20-30 kilometers, and we can’t achieve this without the support of private and public sector companies. Our government has done a lot through the Khelo India initiative, and I am proud of what we have accomplished in the last Olympics. But we aren’t there yet. I request all corporates to come forward, adopt a sport, and support it in all possible ways. Together, we can bring India into the top 3 in the world. Let’s work together to make this vision a reality. #bethechange #indiansports #sportsforchange #indiarising #championmindset #indiaatolympics #futurechampions #supportsports #givingback #sportsinindia #sportsinfrastructure #indiantop3 #kheloindia #corporatesupport #entrepreneurship #olympicdreams #learningreimagined #prometheusschool Prometheus School #kheloindia KheloIndia

India is a land of immense talent, where even children from the smallest villages could dream of Olympic glory if only they had access to the right facilities and Coaching. While children from affluent backgrounds receive specialized training, the real talents in rural areas are overlooked. This disparity is reflected in our Olympic performance. “भारत मे प्रतिभा की कोई कमी नहीं है, बस उसे सुविधा और समर्थन की ज़रूरत है।” China, with over 100,000 multi-sport stadiums, has invested in diverse athletic development. In contrast, India has around 1,000 stadiums, mostly dedicated to cricket, leaving little room for other sports. "Investing in the future of Indian sports means investing in the future of India itself" To unleash our nation's true potential, we must build training centers in rural areas and small towns, providing proper coaching and facilities. Medals won’t come from playing in fields alone; we need the infrastructure to nurture our athletes.

What would an ecosystem, rooted in the Indian context, for spotting and nurturing future Indian #football talent from childhood look like? ⚽ Manish Wahi is a Football Sporting Director, Manager, and Coach who has a close view of the Indian football ecosystem. He truly believes that India can move past its reputation as a sleeping giant, and claim its place on the world stage. However, for that to happen, we would need a more robust system that brings young talent into the pipeline, and nurtures them till elite levels of the sport. He outlines his vision of what such an ecosystem would look like, thoughtfully covering everything from technical training for the young athletes, to ways of addressing parents' concerns about their child's future, healthcare, and even financial planning for the athlete's future. See his model for an ecosystem that protects and nurtures Indian talent so that they can perform at the highest levels of the sport: https://lnkd.in/dr9X8kd3 #ELMSports #HPLP #alumni #highperformancesports #indianfootball #athletecentric #systemdriven #coachled #sportsmanagement

Unveiling the Story of the Siddi Community: Champions of Indian Sports The Siddi community, an ethnic group of African descent residing in Karnataka, Gujarat, and Maharashtra, has a unique legacy in India. Believed to be descendants of Bantu peoples from East Africa, the Siddis have showcased exceptional talent in sports, particularly athletics. Programs like the Special Area Games (SAG) Scheme by the Sports Authority of India have played a pivotal role in nurturing Siddi athletes, identifying their potential in track and field events. Athletes like Kamala Siddi, who won gold in long jump at the 1991 Inter-Zonal Junior Athletics Championship and represented India internationally, are inspiring examples of their success. While challenges like limited resources persist, efforts by non-profits and sports academies are bridging the gap, ensuring equal opportunities for Siddi athletes to thrive. 🌟 Why Can't Every State Empower a Sport Like Odisha? 🌟 Odisha's investment in Indian hockey has been nothing short of inspirational. From nurturing talent to providing world-class facilities, the state has played a pivotal role in India securing Bronze medals in both the Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024 Olympics. This success story begs the question: why can't other financially strong states in India adopt a sport of their own and replicate Odisha's model? Imagine the potential if each state took ownership of a sport, invested in infrastructure, training, and athlete development. With tailored support, we could cultivate champions in a variety of disciplines—badminton, wrestling, archery, athletics, and more. Odisha has shown us the way. Now, it's time for others to step up. Let's make India a powerhouse in global sports by empowering our athletes, one state at a time. 🏅🇮🇳 So, here's a thought: Why can't other financially robust states in India emulate this model by adopting and nurturing specific sports? 👉 Maharashtra could channel its resources into developing world-class badminton players. 👉 Karnataka might focus on swimming, leveraging its existing infrastructure. 👉 Punjab could further its rich legacy in wrestling. 👉 Tamil Nadu might invest in athletics, harnessing its youthful energy. By adopting a sport-centric approach, states can create specialized hubs of excellence, ensuring that athletes receive the best training, facilities, and support. This decentralized strategy not only fosters healthy competition among states but also amplifies our collective potential on international platforms. It's time we envision a collaborative framework where every state contributes uniquely to India's sporting tapestry. Let's harness this momentum, draw inspiration from Odisha, and pave the way for more podium finishes in the future. Together, let's script a new chapter in Indian sports! 🇮🇳🏅 #SportsDevelopment #IndiaAtTheOlympics #OdishaModel #EmpowerAthletes #StateSponsorship #MakeIndiaProud

Such initiatives from corporates will definitely bring change sooner or later.....
Humare paas Maa hai! One of my bosses from the past once said…India can never become a great sporting nation because of Indian Mothers! They are so protective that they don’t let their children go out and play aggressive sports. Upon reflection, that is correct, but there are others reasons why India’s position in the medal tally neither reflects its economic might nor its large population opportunity. Our athletes and sports federations work very hard. And we must as individual and corporate citizens support them. Why should sports persons find employment in public sector and not in private? Should sponsorships by corporates for young #Olympics hopefuls not start at very early stages in their career rather than waiting for them to become medal winners first? Shoikd India not have world class sporting facilities in every district? Lets pledge to make India a great sporting nation…at Revfin we will sponsor going forward at least one athlete with potential to win Olympics in future, we will provide employment to olymoics hopefuls keeping in mind their training needs and sponsor at least one sporting event in the local communities that we work with. Let’s all join the movement….im sure India can be in the top 20 by the next olympics! RevFin Capital EMFAI Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India Sports Authority of India

The Khelo India Scheme has identified 2,781 athletes (including para-athletes) across 21 sports to receive support for enhanced global performance. If you're in the business of high-performance sports, these athletes are your primary target audience. Just below this elite group lies a pool of approximately 40,000 advanced-level athletes—a significant market segment if your products or services cater to athletes preparing to reach the next level. Together, these groups form a clear and actionable data set for anyone aiming to support or grow in the high-performance sports ecosystem. If we assume Rs 7,00,000 per annum as expenditure ( only training and not travel) behind these athletes for high performance , the Indian high performance sports market size is Rs 3000 crore. #sports #sportsbiz #india

India's performance at the Olympic Games has often been a subject of wide discontentment. In the recently concluded Paris Olympics 2024, the 117-member strong Indian contingent was expected to achieve a double-digit medal count including multiple gold medals, however, that story didn’t pan out in the same fashion. This contrasts the powerhouse performances of Indian teams across non-Olympic sports like cricket and kabaddi, where the Indian contingent is seen as a force to be reckoned with. The historical focus on cricket has led to a disproportionate allocation of resources, neglecting other sports in terms of funding and media attention. The result is a nation rich in raw talent but lacking the systematic nurturing required to transform potential into world-class athletic achievements. Several trends are shaping up in India’s sports education market aimed at addressing these concerns, driven by a confluence of public and private initiatives aimed at addressing historical gaps in athlete development and training at the grassroots as well as professional levels.
