Head of Client Strategy and Research at Bravery Media

Here are the typical reasons why higher education institution websites have slow loading times: ◾ They think the best way to add excitement to their pages is with video. ◾ They don’t have the resources for (or don’t really know about) CDNs to serve their images. ◾ They have a bunch of junk code lingering, and they don’t have the time or resources to get it all cleared out. Fixing loading times can feel secondary to other, less technical priorities. So many of these issues don’t get their due in strategy discussions or time and resource allocation. But, have you ever been out and about, and you’ve tried to check a fact on your phone? You know the information is easy to find, but the page is taking forever to load; in fact, you’re not even sure if it will load. Can you feel your own frustration? Now, imagine a prospective student waiting for someone in a car in a pharmacy parking lot. The prospective student googles “best college in my city for engineering,” and your link appears. Good for you and your SEO! That prospect clicks on the link to your site, and it doesn’t load right away. Seconds go by, and half the page comes up, but it’s slow, and as they scroll, parts of your page look broken. So, they hit the back button and go to the next link. Can you empathize with their experience? That’s why Bravery created Benchmark Website Performance. It’s a fast, affordable way to learn what’s making your website slow and how to fix it. https://lnkd.in/d5p8q6kS #higheredmarketing #highered
