🔴 Lol, No. This is not me ranting. (I just had my hands on the world’s best Gobhi Paranthas. Ting!) It is actually a fun post by Zomato on it’s social media handle recently. In a world where #brands do not leave any moment to brag about themselves, Zomato does the opposite. It admits it’s fallacies and makes fun of itself out in the open. Psychologically, when you goof up a little bit, or make a relatable mistake, people tend to like you even more because it makes you seem more human and approachable. ➡️ This is called as the Pratfall Effect in #behavioraleconomics How does this help Zomato as a brand? 1️⃣ By demonstrating that it too is not 100% perfect, it nails authenticity as a brand attribute. 2️⃣ Because of this authenticity vibe, people are now more likely to believe what Zomato claims it does - for example - discouraging plastic use or donating to Feeding India This bakes in stronger brand loyalty. #SimplyExplained ____ Note to self : I am not perfect and no hell is let loose if I make mistakes. It just means I am being my real self and who knows I get to find my tribe like that :)

Zomato should have done a better job at proof reading unless they are sending messages back in time...

Classic case of normalising mistakes by addressing the admiring the elephant in the room. Thanks for sharing Kriti :)

Great post tapping about into a psychology of consumers … I am still wondering why the last message of the delivery guy is showing 2:06PM while the preceding message shows 2:17 PM

Zomato's humor and authenticity are spot on! It's refreshing to see a brand that's not afraid to poke fun at itself.

Kriti Arneja I too agree that Zomato's design team purposefully included this function to lessen the blow if anything went awry, especially if their novel strategy fell short of their hopes. Small, humorous gaffes that endear us to others are consistent with the PRATFALL theory, which describes this phenomenon.
