When you see that a recruiter in the sector in which you operate, has just a tiny fraction of the number of connections in common, it says something. Can you imagine becoming a recruiter having never worked in the sector you serve, not knowing anything about the departments or job roles and then presenting yourself as someone able to give a client best value? Try this; imagine today that you start a new job as a recruiter in the aerospace industry. Your first role is to find a type of aircraft engineer with specific experience, working on fast jets. They have to live near Scampton. Good luck with that! That’s how recruitment looks for people trying to find Housebuilding personnel. Keywords mainly. No understanding of the culture or way things work in housebuilding businesses. In the dark. Which type of recruiter would you sooner respond to when they approach you for another role, when you’re not looking for a job?
