AA.-GALAPAGOS ISLANDS, ECUADOR, SOUTH AMERICA. Everything you need to know for a private international corporate general aviation flight over the airports of the Galapagos Islands: There are 3 airports on the islands for use by international private general aviation, BALTRA/SEGS AIRPORT/Seymour Island (small island that was a base for the United States in World War II) Hours of operation is HJ(Sunrise and sunset) SLOT applies in the morning and afternoon due to commercial airline traffic. SEGS: Parking request 48 hours in advance of the arrival of the international private flight to the operator of the concessioned airport, called ECOGAL.S.A. SEGS: There are only two parking positions according to the size of the aircraft: BB: It´s not possible to fly direct into SEGS, Government requirements states that any operation coming into SEGS must land first in an International Ecuador Airport (SEGU, SEQM) for Immigration, Customs, Disinfecting and Inspection process of the aircraft and luggage, which usually takes up to two hours. CC: The SEGS operating hours are: In the morning from 1330 UTC to 1530 UTC / In the afternoon from 1830 UTC to 2130 UTC DD: Please advise in advance if the aircraft will need to remain overnight at SEGS because we will have to coordinate with the airport authorities to book a parking slot for your aircraft.Only there is two space for parking up to GULF-5/GLEX. SEST: San Cristobal/SEST has 03 spaces.for parking up to GULF-650. SEII: Isabela/SEII has one space up to FA-20. PARKING NOTICE: Parking is extremely limited, and as a rule is not allowed unless approved in advance. 1.-Baltra has 02 (GULF-5 size aircraft). Normal CIQ procedures, and specific procedures required for Galapagos flights. 2.-San Cristóbal has 03 parking stands (up to G650 size aircraft), Parking restrictions apply due to high demand for space. The Operations hours:- DATABASE UPDATE: BALTRA/SEGS operating hours are: In the morning from 1330 UTC to 1530 UTC / In the afternoon from 1830 UTC to 2130 UTC (-6 GMT) 0730 to 0930 local / 1230 to 1530 local. (Apply SLOT for general aviation) SAN CRISTOBAL/SEST and ISABELA/SEII operating hours : HJ -Sunset and sunrise- (SLOT does not apply for general aviation). The cause: geographical distance of the islands (1,000 kms)and the communication is very poor.( This has been going on for years, but it will be worse by line saturation and high demand.) I saw a Coeur d'Alene logo today and it reminded me of another dude that I think of when I think of David: John Goodsen. My last connexion with David was absolutely emblematic of him. I hadn't attended The Big Enterprise Scrum Conference for several years for a variety of reasons immaterial to the story. David wanted to try remote presence, so he had one of those pedestal wheel tablet robots and he asked me if I wanted to try participating from afar. I jumped at the chance. We tested it out the night before the conference started. We established some ground rules, like no spying on private conversations and just generally Don't Be An Asshole. Easy choice. I started rolling around and he'd accompany me so that people didn't wonder who the weirdo was on the tablet. By then, the conference was a mix of dear old friends and people who'd never heard of me. Better to be safe than dickish. He walked. I rolled. It was really cool. I got excited to be there without having to enter the country and deal with border guards on power trips. Maybe 6 minutes in, someone from security approaches David and understandably inquires. David handles it in David fashion: here's what we're doing and why. We cool? We wuzn't cool. I was a security and privacy risk. We offered to sign waivers or whatever to attest to our intentions. But no. Rules are rules. And David lost it, at least as much as David did: he adopted the whole Disappointed Parent affect. Really? You're going to do this? You're going to treat us like this, who spend $1.5M at your hotel for this conference? This guy's a titan in the field. Dude, do you even business? We reached an agreement that frankly sucked. I could stay within 6 feet of DevJam's vendor booth. What a waste of time! Almost all the people who passed by had no idea who I was and the people who knew me wouldn't hang out in the vendor pavilion! I stood there for like 15 minutes like an author at a book signing where nobody showed up. (There's a reason I choose that analogy, but that's for a therapy session.) David and I retrospected. Typical low-trust bullshit. What a shame! Stupid. Everything that's wrong with Enterprise Scrum As She Is Spoke. All how. No why. And that's why I loved this fucking guy: he got me and he got _it_. And in the names of David Hussman and John Goodsen and Mike Beedle and Jean Tabaka and the other mentors I can no longer go to for advice, this is why I'm a #Lightweight and no longer "an Agilist". Anyone who knows me knows that it _kills_ me to say that, but I can't deny it any more. If you want to measure yourself by outdated Maturity Models and who has grown the most Scrum Masters, then good luck to you. Someday, I hope, following someone else's rules and rewarding others individually for the same won't be enough for you any more. When that day comes, I will welcome you out of the cold, give you coffee (or something stronger), and we can get to work. I'd love it. #dudeslaw #xplives #doitforyounotforthem

It's been a year of many lessons for me. Here are 3: (I'll write as transparent as I can about them.) 1. Never stop evolving and changing your business I had a period where I was very comfortable (end of 2022/beginning of 2023) because things were going very good for us. I should have pushed for new initiatives at that point. 2. Learn to delegate and trust your team Micromanaging is the curse of many very capable people, and the weight pulling them down. 3. Cash flow is king Like many in the IT/design industry, we've had a bumpy ride this year. Never take your eye off the ball and prioritise financial safety. Here's to 2023, and may 2024 be a good one!

What is going on here

The USA Olympic basketball teams demonstrate what the make up of a high functioning work team looks like. A group of individual contributors who are really good at what they do, without too much overlap. A selflessness to help elevate each other, but ready to execute when called upon. A leader that can take the blame for the team, while finding ways to help the team execute more efficiently. Time to develop as a team and a trust in the process to get there.

Sometimes, letting the engineering team speak to the real problems can motivate the client towards real solutions. This whole notion of sales teams and engineering teams not being on the same page is a problem that I continually have to solve for companies, when brought in to handle "system issues". Sales teams provide feedback for engineers on the customer experience, and defines the fiscal opportunity/risk. Engineering teams provide insights to sales on design decisions, scheduling, known solutions, and should be the metric for a businesses productivity levels. It's very common for sales and engineering teams to not be on the same page, and the worst part of it is the number of companies who are okay keeping these skeletons in the closet - because who wants to take responsibility for the problem when it's you? #engineeringproblems #technicaldebt #brokencode #spaghetti #cicd #mismanagement #guidelines #regulations #procedures #mobileapp #softwaredeveloper
