I never post things like this on this platform, but I feel now is right the time to be transparent.
As a talent acquisition professional with nine years of experience, it is very disappointing to know how many times my résumé has been overlooked in the past year that I have been seeking a new opportunity. I have begun to feel as if I am being viewed as if I am not good enough for the opportunities or companies that I am applying to based on a few gaps in my resume.
Life has unfortunately happened to me more than I like to admit since the pandemic (as it has for a lot of us) and a few major life changes have landed me back in the candidate seat. I understand how recruiting works and I understand how and why resumes are rejected but I also know how it feels to be a candidate and wishing someone would see you. This is why I am always slow to judge and fast to help in my roles. It is important to allow a candidate to tell their own story.
I am enough and I am a great candidate. I am knowledgeable of both HR practices as well as TA. I am fair, teachable,honest and professional. I am not going to beg anyone to hire me, but I’m not going to give up and roll over either. I began to become very discouraged the past few weeks, but I am going to continue to fight and push for what I want and what I know I deserve. In my roles as a talent acquisition and HR professional, I am always sure to help a candidate, even if I cannot hire them. My way of viewing every phone screen and interview is to make sure that they leave better than the way that they came. Always providing valuable information tips and suggestions is the way I provide my service to those in need of employment.
In talent acquisition and HR we sit in very important seats. We hold livelihoods in our hands. And a lot of times we are a deciding factor to a big change in someone’s life. In this profession, we must remember that when we are working with candidates and remember to give them grace because we do not know what people have been through. We would also want someone to provide us that grace if we were on the other side of the table.
Allow me to share a bit of myself and my story with you. My name is Krystle, I live in Fort Lauderdale, FL by way of Chicago and Detroit. I am a first time mother of beautiful, two year-old girl named Scarlett who has a genetic disorder. She often has some medical challenges and long hospital stays and as a newly divorced single mother, I am with her each step of the way. I am basically alone here in Florida other than my daughter and a few associates.
I must be successful and accomplished for her and for myself.
