How can I make a low shear fixed speed pump setup? First of all, you need a proper Low Shear pump. Next, consider operating the pump intermittently. If this is not possible, a recycle line is often used in produced water applications to handle varying water production rates. It is highly recommended to install the recycle line downstream of the separation equipment, rather than directly downstream of the pump. This reduces the amount of oil that is recycled back upstream. Doing this also reduces the pressure drop across the recycle valve, which is a means to reduce droplet breakup. With much of the country experiencing heavy rainfall, there are some things that need to be considered on site during rainy weather. ☂️ When laying hose on the ground between the rig and the job site, the biggest thing is to be proactive by avoiding pooling water, possibly by elevating the hose from point A to point B with sawhorses or something similar. 🌧️ But even with being proactive, our hoses may still get wet. It’s part of the game. This is one reason why it is extremely important to use antioxidant grease on the power lock connectors while installing new hoses (or even coming from the builder). 🔎 It is our job to inspect hose connections and the overall condition of our hoses EVERY DAY. At the end of each day, look for exposed wires and connectors that may need to be disconnected, and for new grease applied and or repaired. ⚡ Another thing to be very aware of is the use of an RTD, FTS, or TSU. These systems use electrical current and its resistance of current to relay a signal to the temperature control unit. This change in resistance is supposed to be done with a change in temperature of the sensor. However, the addition of moisture in the connectors (and/or oxidation due to moisture) can dramatically influence the reading, causing failures. In short, keep all hose assemblies as dry as possible, and do your daily inspection on these systems to extend the life of your spray foam rig. #techtips
