In the context of police training, understanding and harnessing these natural tools can be instrumental in preparing officers to navigate pressure-filled scenarios. It's essential to emphasize the development of cognitive and physiological responses, control of body movements, effective communication through voice, and heightened sensory awareness. The potential value of de-escalation training and simulation for police cannot be overestimated. A mistake using a virtual simulator does not result in a lost life, a destroyed family or an impacted officer. They just try again until they get it right. VirTra, Axon and other companies allow officers to train, at a much lower cost vs. traditional methods and better prepare them for high-stress scenarios. A 2021 study from Carleton University in Canada (https://lnkd.in/g5VAcFF2) shows that “the more officers have trained (rehearsed), and the more automated (instinctive, reflexive, subconscious) their skills, the less their performance degrades in high-stress situations.” https://lnkd.in/gpWQuxjB
