Instead of our usual #ShippingTermTuesday, we're dropping some maritime knowledge on a #WednesdayWisdom. Today's term: Master. Let's dive in! The title "Master" for a ship captain is a historical one, rooted in the concept of absolute authority and responsibility. Historical Significance: Dating back to Roman times, the "magister navis" held ultimate command over a vessel. This tradition persisted through the ages, with the ship's captain being the indisputable authority figure. Absolute Authority: In the perilous world of sailing, decisions had to be made swiftly and decisively. The captain, as the master, held complete authority over the ship and its crew, ensuring safety and discipline. Skill and Experience: The title reflected the captain's mastery of navigation, seamanship, and leadership. They were considered experts in their field, hence the designation "Master." While the term "captain" is more commonly used today, the title "Master" continues to hold its prestige and signifies the captain's paramount role in the maritime world. #KTB #KTBMarine #ShippingTerm #Master #ShipCaptain #Maritime #Seafaring #Leadership #MarineIndustry #OceanLife #Nautical #Seafarer #Shipping #Logistics #Cargo #Vessel #Commander #Authority

Maritime professions are crucial in a consistently vital industry, irrespective of the evolving maritime environment. Roles such as port authority, harbor pilot, tug boat operator, captain, and various mates and engineers are all essential. The discipline and skills involved have broad applications, encouraging management and colleagues to view themselves as a ship's captain and crew, respectively. The commitment to collaborate effectively transcends individual backgrounds, skills, and reputations. The daily choice to act as crew members, coxswains, or anchors carries significant, undeniable consequences. While we may not control every aspect of our direction or path, focusing on our immediate tasks and upholding collaborative values is paramount. Approaching each task with utmost importance may be vital in achieving success.

📍#SeafarersAroundTheWorld 📍 ✅ I was scrolling the daily maritime/LNG news 💻 and I stumbled across the below photo which hit deeply 🌪. ✅ You think it is sarcastic photo but actually it is a fact picture 🎯. ✅ I have been working, and most of the seafarers, with incompetent and even competent but arrogant and bully senior officers/engineers that transform your contract onboard to a nightmare 🔥. ✅ Not only the seafarer sometimes lives his hard time onboard away 🌎 from his family, and this kind of people add the water to the boiled oil for no reason 🚨. ✅ Yes, I call them #Clowns exactly as the below picture is showing and they don’t even deserve ❌ to sail onboard ships. ✅ One of the reasons to become a #Captain was to avoid these red noses 🔴 and transform the atmosphere onboard my ship to the opposite ⭐. ✅ It is overwhelming when a seafarer comes to you and says “Captain please stay more onboard, we are very happy sailing with you” 🙏 ✅ Have you ever sailed with these #Clowns ❓❓ 📷: Danica #shipping #shippingindustry #Seafarers #MLC #Harrasment #Wellbeing

🌊 Did you know? 🚢 Captains in the marine industry undergo rigorous training, often completing a 3-4 year Navigation program, and spending additional years accumulating sea time and earning certifications, before ultimately achieving the prestigious Master Mariner Certificate of Competency. As the highest ranking officers, they are responsible for the protection of the crew, the cargo/passengers, the vessel and the environment. ⚓ #MarineCaptain #ShipNavigation #SafetyFirst

𝑻𝒂𝒌𝒆 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒓𝒊𝒔𝒌, 𝒐𝒓 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒘𝒊𝒍𝒍 𝒍𝒐𝒐𝒔𝒆 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒄𝒉𝒂𝒏𝒄𝒆! Recently, A seafarer shared his concerns with me about the difficult choice between moving ashore or remaining at sea. To all sailors: the shore offers fantastic career opportunities if you're considering a change. But the switch might be nerve wrecking . So like me, keep your licenses current so you can be peaceful! Taken at Navantia, S.A., S.M.E shipyards,ESP. P.S. -This post is just a suggestion. I still have a lot to do ashore. 😁 #sailor #careerchange #risk

Something to ponder for safety of all at sea. A large trading or passenger vessel takes an equally large amount of time to stop or turn demonstrated well in the video. in confined channels and waters keep clear of large vessels. when offshore use common sense and dont put yourself in such a dangerous close quarters situation!
Thank you to @_captain_mark from the other sm platform that I can’t name for risk of the clip being downrated, for your awesome explanation. And thank you to @brezn_voyager for the clip of the sailboat. 🙌🏻 #ships #sailboats #collide | Powerboat Training
