Like with most things, the more upfront planning with your art fair sales and marketing strategies, the more enjoyable the process and the higher the rewards. Art fairs can be overwhelming but valuable for meeting new buyers and networking in the art world. Be confident in your goals and your resources before going into it. Focusing too much attention on fairs can sometimes strain relationships with your gallery artists and other clients. Personalized marketing to your best leads should start months before the fair with a soft touch. Make finding your booth and learning what you will present easy by creating a dedicated page on your gallery website for each fair. Be creative with lead-generating strategies to draw people into your booth. The lessons learned from trying a new approach will be valuable for other gallery marketing initiatives. When you return home, you will be exhausted, but do not forget to send a personalized “thank you” email to all your new contacts. A resource like Gallery Fuel could help you take your art gallery business to the next level. Career Coach for Museum Pros 💼 | Director of Public Programs at Marshall Steam Museum 🚂 | Passionate Collaborator & Connector 👥
This week we'll be exploring "other duties as assigned" and I want to hear about your experiences with 🧼CLEANING🧼 In addition to their main tasks, it is common for museum workers (especially at smaller museums) who have to take on duties like cleaning the toilets, the museum, vacuuming spaces, etc. What I want to know is: 1. How long do these tasks usually take? (Daily/Weekly/Monthly) 2. What you are expected to do If you don't want to comment, you can feel free to submit your own experience privately here: https://lnkd.in/egqbK_z8 𝗔 𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗰𝗸 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗰𝗹𝗮𝗶𝗺𝗲𝗿: Getting assigned "other duties" outside of your scope of work can, in select environments, serve as a way of professional development. However, what is often the case in museums, is underpaid and overworked individuals are being taken advantage of and/or a place is understaffed to be able to sustainably fill roles and tasks.

Today's museum question: What skills AND characteristics do you envision in staff that will work in a team to produce multi-platform interactive, inclusive and transformative heritage experiences? (In terms of characteristics f.ex. I belive curiosity and being comfortable in explorative work methods is necessary, but isn't something you have on your CV).

What makes a bigger impact in museums? LED lighting with improved light quality to showcase exhibits or reduced heat emission to protect artifacts? Museums benefit greatly from LED lighting due to its ability to enhance the visual appeal of exhibits while protecting valuable artifacts. LED systems offer superior light quality that can be finely tuned to highlight the details and colors of exhibits, providing visitors with a more engaging and accurate viewing experience. Additionally, LED fixtures emit significantly less heat compared to traditional lighting, reducing the risk of damage to sensitive artifacts and helping to maintain controlled environmental conditions. By utilizing LED lighting, museums can improve the presentation of their collections while ensuring the preservation of their invaluable items for future generations.
