🗣 Our international #team met today to discuss the technical aspect of the project, specifically the data to be collected and how it will be integrated into the #Oenotraceplatform. 💻 On the screenshot you can see the exatrek interface with the tractor usage, showing the monitored fuel consumption, CO2 emissions and working hours. This can be used to generate data to account for machine emissions in the carbon balance model of the project. 🚜 Digital Agriculture Group – Geisenheim University is now responsible for collecting data on machine use during the cultivation phase of winegrowing, which will be provided to the Beia Consult International partner for the platform developed for the project. 📍 So sign up to our page to keep updated on how we progress. Thrilled to have collaborated with Niva Kay over the last few years on REGENERATE Game Jam, showcasing organic, regenerative, and indigenous farming practices through 70 innovative games! 🌾🎮 Also incredibly proud to share the story and our findings at academyEX’s Converge Research Symposium on Friday last week. With the amazing support from our incredible mentors and sponsors, REGENERATE Game Jam ran three times in 2022-2023. In that time it engaged 450 participants from 48 countries and saw many indigenous-inspired farming games being produced in the likes of Brazil, Iran and Aotearoa New Zealand! The 2023 event, held over five days in June last year, saw remarkable growth and diversity: - 54% increase in participants and mentors compared to our second Matariki-focused jam in June 2022, - Participants, many who had competed in previous REGENERATE Game Jams, joined us from 38 countries, including New Zealand, USA, Tanzania, Brazil, Chile, Germany, UK, Iran, and Sweden - 32 teams formed plus we saw 42 solo jammers, surpassing previous years - Average participant age dropped from 26 to 24, with the top age group being 15-year-olds [despite industrial action in NZ schools!] - 26% of participants were high school-aged (13-18), with 30% of these from Aotearoa New Zealand, and 7% identifying as gender diverse 🔍 Observations: - Extending the jam duration to 5 days attracted more young participants and students - We also saw a greater range of diverse farming practices. - Cash prizes boosted participation but didn't enhance game quality as much as we anticipated, and we noted some unexpected behaviors, possibly due to the cash incentives. 📚 Recommendations: - Continue engaging diverse schools and encourage 13-18-year-olds to participate - Provide dedicated game development support for rangatahi, potentially integrating Game Jam activities into school curricula Excited to see the future of regenerative farming in gaming! 🌍🌱 Kia kaha, kia māia, kia manawanui e hoa mā ^KT #GameJam | #RegenerativeFarming | #IndigenousPractices | #YouthEngagement | #GamingForGood
Had a great day at the academyEX symposium on Friday. Kerry Topp and I were there to talk about our findings and journey of running REGENERATE Game Jam. REGENERATE Game Jam ran 3 times in 2022 - 2023 and for us it was a huge success in showcasing a plurality of organic, regenerative and indigenous farming values and practices through the 70 games submitted in these events. And a little personal bonus — with RGJ being a global and fully online event — even as we’ve been working on this kaupapa together sense 2021 this was the first time the two of us met in real life! Thanks to academyEX for organising and for everyone that has supported, participated and engaged with RGJ over the years.

🇧🇷 On the blog today - a retrospective of our first Community Event in Brazil! Last September, our team gathered from around the world for our first Offsite in Brazil, and to host our first Community Event. 🌎 It was an enriching and festive gathering that deepened relationships with the regenerative agricultural community of Brazil and amplified everyone’s resolve to create a lasting impact. 🚜 Founders Niklas Kluger and Felix Harteneck presented a brief introduction to the company, about the need for carbon removal, and the crucial role that agriculture in Brazil plays. 🚜 The agricultural stakeholders who presented following this were united in their commitment to take the ideas of carbon removal and soil remineralisation to their neighbours and friends. These specifically were: 🇧🇷 ABREFEN / BK Mineração - Wellington Dal Bem 🇧🇷 Agrobizão - Antonio Bizão Junior 🇧🇷 Quanticum - Diego Siqueira 🌱 Siqueira 🇧🇷 Grupo Bandeirantes - Augusto Leopoldinho (was not present at the event though - we missed you) 🇧🇷 SOZO Britas - Vilmar and Eduardo Sozo ➡ Read more here: https://lnkd.in/gD6_X6qP

🌱Reminiscent of My Project at Synthite: Using Hydroponics to Grow Bacopa Monnieri 🌱 I was reflecting on one of my favourite projects at Synthite, where I had the opportunity to explore the fascinating world of hydroponics! We focused on cultivating Bacopa monnieri, a plant renowned for its cognitive and health benefits. This project not only deepened my understanding of sustainable agriculture but also challenged me to innovate and problem-solve in a dynamic environment. Key takeaways from this experience: Sustainable Practices: Hydroponics allows for efficient water use and maximizes space, making it an ideal method for growing valuable herbs like Bacopa. Collaboration and Learning: Working with a talented team helped me refine my skills in project management and scientific research. Results: We achieved a successful yield that demonstrated the potential of hydroponic systems in commercial agriculture. Grateful for the lessons learned and excited to continue exploring the intersection of technology and agriculture! 🌿 #Throwback #Hydroponics #SustainableAgriculture #BacopaMonnieri #Innovation #Synthite #Elasustainablesolutions
