Potássio do Brasil aims to offset approximately 1.2 million tons of carbon emissions annually, contributing positively to environmental sustainability. It’s worth noting that Brazil’s energy matrix consists of around 84% renewable energy by prioritizing renewable sources. This week I was honored to spend time celebrating #HitachiEnergy’s 70th anniversary of operations in Brazil. It is stunning to see how well our teams in Brazil have responded to market opportunities, and the new local Customer Operations Center (COC) in Guarulhos demonstrates our deep commitment to strengthen #digital support and #collaboration with our customers. In the last few years, Brazil has added significantly more renewable sources to the grid, making the country’s energy system one of the least carbon-intensive in the world, according to IEA . We’re excited to announce our latest investment, helping to secure long-term access to renewable energy in the Asia-Pacific region. Ingka Investments has made its second investment in TagEnergy’s 1,333MW Golden Plains Wind Farm in Victoria, Australia, taking a 15 percent stake in Stage 2 of the $4 billion AUD/2.5 billion EUR mega-project.  Currently the biggest wind farm in the southern hemisphere, Golden Plains Wind Farm will deliver 9% of Victoria’s energy when completed in mid-2027. “This 15% stake in Stage 2 highlights our dedication to securing renewable energy for IKEA retail countries and advancing sustainability goals. Curious about how Asahi is turning carbon zero promise into action?   The Asahi Group has committed to an ambitious target of achieving net zero across our value chain by 2040. A crucial part of our strategy is the active utilization of renewable energy.   💡 In Europe, we've signed Virtual Power Purchase Agreements (VPPAs) in seven countries to use 100% renewable electricity in our Europe breweries by 2025.   💡 In Australia, we've signed our third Physical Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) in New South Wales in July 2024. Under the agreement, we will purchase enough energy to power the equivalent of 4,400 homes annually.   💡 In Japan, all 31 of our plants have already been switched to 100% purchased electricity from renewable energy in April 2023. From 2022 to 2024, we've installed 15,000+ solar panels at five plants, leveraging the PPA model for ensure a stable supply of renewable energy.   💡 In Southeast Asia, specifically in Malaysia, we've achieved 100% green electricity utilization as of 2022, courtesy of solar power and the Green Electric Tariff (GET) in one of our plants. We were recently honored with the prestigious silver prize in the renewable energy category at The ESG Positive Impact Awards.   We're not just setting ambitious targets; we're actively pursuing them. At Towa International, sustainability is a top priority. In 2023, we launched a new Energy Management Project to improve our energy efficiency and reduce emissions. Here are some of the key initiatives we’ve implemented: ⚡ Installation of a new photovoltaic system, boosting our renewable energy to 1.7 GWh, covering 8% of our facilities' energy needs. 🔌 Commitment to 100% electricity supply with Guarantees of Origin (GoO) until 2034. 🔧 Installation of more efficient GEAs and compressors. 🌬️ Enhancing air-conditioning systems and automating controls across all facilities. 🚗 Gradually electrifying our vehicle fleet, with our Portuguese subsidiary set to complete its transition to electric cars by next May. Thanks to these efforts, we’ve improved our plant’s energy ratio by 25% compared to last year and significantly reduced our carbon footprint. 🌟 Exciting News! 🌟 We are happy to announce our renewed partnership with Aqualectra to support the decarbonisation of the beautiful island of Curaçao in the Caribbean. 🌎 The latest project involves a new 38 MW power plant equipped with 4 Wärtsilä 32 engines. The Salu Power Plant will provide efficient grid balancing as the level of renewable energy in the system increases. This plant will immediately become one of Aqualectra’s most fuel-efficient plants. In May Aqualectra placed an order with Wärtsilä for a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) as well as Wärtsilä’s GEMS Digital Energy Platform. 🔋This marked a significant step towards a sustainable energy future for Curaçao. 🌱 💬Risto Paldanius, Vice President, Americas says: “Aqualectra’s strategic objective is to provide the community with affordable, sustainable, and reliable electricity. MANE is celebrating the International Day of Clean Energy! Implemented following a UN resolution, the International Day of Clean Energy aims to raise awareness and mobilise action towards a fair transition to clean energy. We are pleased to announce that nearly 70% of our electricity is now green, marking an increase of 30 percentage points in our renewable energy portfolio in just 5 years. Additionally, self-consumption accounts for a portion of this green electricity, due to solar panels installed at MANE Colombia, MANE France, MANE Indonesia, MANE KANCOR and MANE Thailand sites. In 2023, we installed solar panels on the roof of the Innovation Centre and solar panel blinds at our site in Le Bar-sur-Loup, France, representing another milestone in our commitment to renewable energy. We are especially proud that these eco-friendly panels were supplied by the French manufacturer who shares our commitment to sustainability and innovation. 🌍 A new milestone in our sustainability strategy #CreatingABetterTomorrow: we are thrilled to announce that Bekaert has signed a 10-year Virtual Power Purchase Agreement (VPPA) with Rezolv Energy. This agreement, one of the largest ever in Central and Southeastern Europe, marks a significant step in our sustainability journey. ⚡ Purchase of 100 GWh of renewable power annually. ⚡ Reduction of annual emissions by over 41,000 tonnes of CO2e. ⚡ Power sourced from a 461 MW wind farm in Romania.
