The Ministry of Education and Science of the Kyrgyz Republic has released the results of its National Ranking of Higher Education Institutions in Kyrgyzstan. This pioneering study marks a significant step in evaluating the quality and performance of universities across the nation. Universities were assessed based on six comprehensive criteria: • Academic reputation • Employer assessment • Quality of teaching • Science citation index • Ratio of foreign faculty members • Ratio of foreign students In a notable achievement, the International Higher School of Medicine secured the top position (1st place) in the Science Citation Index Ranking. This specific criterion utilizes data from Scopus, the largest abstract and bibliographic database, to evaluate the research output. The ranking is determined by calculating the number of scientific publications registered in Scopus over the last five years and dividing this by the number of full-time faculty members. The ranking included participation from 27 universities across Kyrgyzstan, reflecting a broad spectrum of academic disciplines and research capabilities. We are proud of our rank in the Science Citation Index and are committed to striving for even greater achievements in the future. #GPEKIX 2023-2024 annual report is now available! This past year, the Global Partnership for Education (GPE) Knowledge and Innovation Exchange (KIX) has made significant strides toward its three key priorities: ➡️ Generating high-quality, demand-driven research in #education ➡️ Mobilizing insights from applied research and learning exchanges into action ➡️ Strengthening the capacity of knowledge producers and users in GPE partner countries Progress is evident not only in the increasing volume of high-quality #research on education priorities but also in the frequency with which partners are taking up research and applying it to their local contexts. This year’s report features the theme of early childhood education (#ECE). KIX-supported ECE research plays an important role in informing evidence-based #policies and practices that integrate play into early learning. Read the full report here: https://bit.ly/3ZiomdL

Are you involved in Social Sciences and Humanities (SSH) research? Your insights are invaluable to us! OPERAS leads the pilot under the GraspOS Project dedicated to enhancing research assessment practices in the SSH thematic area. Our commitment is to establish a set of universal criteria that not only bolster responsible research assessment but also integrate the principles of Open Science. We will organise online consultation workshops in March to hear the community’s perspectives and experiences, both who are on the evaluating end and have been evaluated in the SSH. The aim is to dive deep into: - Balancing quantitative and qualitative criteria in research assessments. - Ensuring the responsible application of various indicators. - Discuss the diversity of research outputs (e.g. books) and activities (e.g. peer review) relevant to SSH for research assessment purposes - Determining core values and priorities for SSH in the context of research assessment. - Exploring the role of digital platforms, tools, and services in supporting research assessment for SSH scholars. Insights on these topics will contribute significantly to our project's success. We are particularly interested in how digital innovations can streamline and enhance the assessment process for researchers in the SSH community. If you are interested in participating, register your interest here: https://lnkd.in/ex2nCWDR. We are offering various time slots to verify the community’s availability. The form will remain open until a sufficient number of participants have registered. We look forward to your valuable participation! #ResearchAssessment #SSH #OpenScience
