KUKA realizes complex battery pack assembly line In Foshan in southern China, #FAW-Volkswagen, the VW Group's reference factory for #electric vehicles, is now successfully producing automated battery packs thanks to KUKA. A particular challenge here is the implementation of the #demanding production steps. Over 100 KUKA industrial robots are integrated into the system. There are also testing devices and logistics using automated guided vehicles (AGVs). What is the complexity in the battery pack assembly for the robots? How much of the control and processes are controlled by the Robot controller itself via sub routines running in the backgrounds while the executable routines and motion are working? Interested in the feedback. Because most people in the industry believe that the robots are dumb and all the programming, control , processes are run via plc/edge computers or processors in the process equipment themselves.

That is a great application, well done!
