Vitales Brasil Launches Bionematicide Gratto Nema In Brazil Vitales announced the launch of the biological nematicide Gratto Nema. Formulation developed with the fungus Purpureocillium lilacinum, strain PL11, the product is recommended for soil application and seed treatment to control the nematodes Meloidogyne incognita and Meloidogyne javanica. Gratto Nema is a product with proven agronomic efficiency in lettuce, carrot, and soybean crops, and can be used in any crop where the biological target occurs. Gratto Nema as highly efficient and sustainable and it is recommended for integrated pest management. ″Nematodes are difficult to control. They attack plant roots, causing the formation of lesions, galls, and cysts that hinder water and nutrient absorption by the roots. Gratto Nema is a solution that controls eggs, juveniles, and adults of the main phytoparasitic nematodes. Recommended for different crops, the producer obtains a series of benefits, such as reducing the nematode population through the parasitism of females, eggs, and nematodes in the mobile stage, without causing any imbalance in the soil microbiota and harm to the environment, thus improving productivity. #Vitales #Launches #Bionematicide #Gratto #Nema #Brazil #Purpureocillium #lilacinum #Incognita #javanica #IntellectChem

(USA 28.12.23) #growingproduce What a Wet Winter Means for White Mold and Your Vegetable Crops. In the Southeast, an anticipated wet winter due to El Niño's effects poses a threat to winter vegetables, particularly with increased disease likelihood, such as white mold. This disease affects brassicas and celery family crops, causing water-soaked tissues and black sclerotia formation. Managing white mold is challenging due to limited fungicide effectiveness and the biology of the Sclerotinia fungus. Recommendations include scheduling fungicide applications after freezes and implementing non-chemical methods like removing diseased plants to reduce sclerotia in soil and mitigate future outbreaks.

Why should farmers use biologicals with transplant crops? Through transplanting, specialty farmers avoid some of the problems associated with direct seeding. By allowing plants to mature sooner and have an increased resistance to pests and other stressors, there’s a higher chance of success when plants are moved to the fields. The use of biologicals can be seen an added “insurance policy” for transplant crops because they: - Support root growth - Enhance plant vigor - Increase nutrient availability and uptake - Boost crop yields These beneficial microbes can be applied at the time of transplanting, with additional follow-up applications to support the entire plant lifecycle.
