Thrilled to see a call for Art Therapy in medical settings research conducted by … Art Therapists. This research standard necessarily aligns Art Therapy Research with other distinct-profession "Healthcare Occupation" (US DOL) Research standards (e.g., Ophthalmologists report on Ophthalmology, Physical Therapists report on PT, etc.). If a medical journal published my “research” on Ophthalmology, wouldn’t that be circulating my unqualified, incompetent practice and conclusions? It would! I applaud IJAT for assuring true consumer consent/preventing harm; preserving test instrument research integrity; and assuring authoritative research reporting standards for the Art Therapy "Profession" (AATA). As a separate research (and practice) issue, how can consumers give informed consent to "Art Therapy" as broadly defined (anything Art + Healthcare), by those who have not attained the American Art Therapy Association’s standard, a “minimum” of an Art Therapy Master’s degree? #arttherapy #artsinhealthcare #healthcareresearch
