The latest HP Spectre x360 14 is the best Windows laptop I’ve tested so far.

Technology market analysis firm Canalys estimates that in the nearly two-year period until Microsoft’s official end-of-support date for Windows 10 – 14 October 2025 – roughly a fifth of devices will become e-waste due to incompatibility with the Windows 11 OS. This equates to 240 million PCs. If these were all folded laptops, stacked one on top of another, they would make a pile 600 km taller than the moon. Long time Mac user here. I have absolutely loved the latest laptops for their battery life and performance. I have really appreciated of late how Qualcomm's tech is giving my Windows brethren a taste of the same things I have been appreciating for ~4 years. Except Microsoft, in tru fashion is just screwing the pooch here. Again. The linked video is a great illustration of what keeps me away from Windows perpetually. Let me focus on one particular thing though. The OS and its support for the new ARM stuff is just awful, still. Apple has, twice now, supported its users in transitions better than anyone. The M1 could run nearly all of the software users already had with very little issues. Yet here we are with these excellent new laptops and they are hampered by developer incompetence. Huge missed opportunities. Bonus gripe here, can't leave it out. Why do people pay for the base Windows OS at all? And even so the start menu is full of ads, these machines come packed with bloatware still? MacOS is updated yearly and is 100% free...and isn't turning into adware. And if you watch the first 10 minutes of this, the setup process drives me nuts, I almost had to stop watching. Do better Microsoft. Do.
