Our experience from the frontline is that senior leaders need to understand the roadmap to success and AI strategy, mid-level managers need to have a playbook to shape behavior change, task force needs clear communication and change management to understand, learn and advocate for use cases by AI. It is a learning journey and it will be messy. Ethical and Regulatory Concerns: a lot of life science companies are still learning to come up with AI policy internally and struggle to regulate employee behaviors. Data Quality and Integration: life science industry requires high fidelity data, hence vertical AI with life science specific data, know-how and empathy of workflow will thrive. General AI that can create a new image or write an email cannot fit the high bar of life science industry and may create the wrong first impression for life science knowledge workers to discourage them to try AI. Together, we’re opening doors for extraordinary talent by bridging the gap between career-ready individuals and the skills needed for impactful roles in biotechnology.   The Career Forge program identifies exceptional “Forgers” and equips them with in-person training in workplace competencies and advanced lab skills, preparing them to excel in hands-on roles. Bioversity opened our doors on January 8th, 2024. Four months later, we are in week two of our 3rd training cohort. 31 graduates and 12 new students later... Our original mission was speed and scale. How quickly can we train underrepresented populations and get them employed? And, how many cohorts can we run in a year? So far, we are meeting and exceeding every metric we set for ourselves. - 650 applicants and counting - 96% of enrolled students are Black and/or Latino - 76% of students live in Boston neighborhoods And my favorite data point? The average pre-enrollment income of our students is $28,000 and soars to $56,000+ after job placement. Our graduates are landing full-time employment in roles like Lab Support Technician, Logistics Technician, Manufacturing Associate, Molecular Technician Associate, Senior Site Specialist, and more, at top companies. There is so much more to do. But there must be small moments to reflect and take pride in what we've done.

I chose Bioversity because of the incredible benefits it offers. Being paid to learn and given this life-changing opportunity was something I couldn’t pass up. Through this experience, I hope to gain confidence and expand my knowledge in this field. How do you believe your past experiences have prepared you for success in this workforce development program? I have been working since I was 18 years old. Instead of going to college and focusing on my education, I chose to leave home and enter the workforce to earn money. Through this experience, I have learned professionalism and the importance of taking every task seriously. I still have things and skills to learn, so I am happy to be here. At Bayer in Poland, we understand the importance of nurturing curiosity and admiration for the world around us. That’s why we’ve facilitated BayLab initiative — a popular-science showroom designed to ignite children’s fascination with life sciences. On Friday, November 15, we welcomed around 80 young and adult science enthusiasts to our Warsaw premises. Together, we explored a world of thrilling, hands-on edutainment activities that go beyond the typical classroom experience. From isolating chlorophyll from spinach leaves to understanding how the immune system works, participants discovered the wonders of science in an engaging and accessible way. Highlights included: // Exploring photosynthesis and luminescence in simple terms. // Learning about fruits with the highest levels of vitamin C. // Experiencing the life of bees through virtual reality. // Building empathy through a unique aging simulator. BayLab not only inspired the young minds but also brought the Bayer team and our families closer together, strengthening bonds around a shared passion for science. This initiative has proven its value, and we’re excited to continue sparking curiosity, discovery, and connection through BayLab.
