One week passed from the end of the 7th International Symposium on Peripheral Nerve Regeneration in Milan. There, I had the opportunity to listen to many compelling presentations and to network with the community working on peripheral nerve injuries (PNI)! The poster I presented, entitled “Mechanical evaluation of nerves regenerated in oxidized polyvinyl alcohol-based conduits”, is part of the branch of research committed to find innovative approaches for PNI treatement. Special thanks to Piero Pavan, Andrea Porzionato, Elena Stocco, Silvia Barbon, Silvia Todros, Cesare Tiengo, Alice D'Osualdo and Silvia Spadoni. #biomechanics, #pni, #tissueengineering

If you happen to be at SPIE next week, please stop by and learn more about how O-PTIR is advancing spectroscopy on the micro scale!
Attending #SPIE BIOS/Photonics West in San Francisco in few days? We certainly will be, along with many researchers using our multimodal submicron Optical Photothermal Infrared (O-PTIR) microscope to further their research. Come along to one of the several exciting O-PTIR related scientific presentations, spanning various biological applications, like metabolic imaging of live cells, microplastics in tissues, artic diatoms to hot topics in biopharma analysis - sub-visibles particulates. Talks by Oxana Klementieva, Kathleen Gough, Ji-Xin Cheng, Rohith Reddy, Gwendylan Turner, Markus Brandstetter, Christoph Krafft Full list of talks in the PDF attached. Mustafa Kansiz and Ting Yan will be walking the corridors, attending the talks and brushing shoulders with the scientists, so reach out to them to make a time to meet up. #OPTIR #Raman #FTIR #Microscopy #microplastics

I am excited to share with you our new publication in Adv. Mat. Our team at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev (including Semion Censor, Ohad Silberbush, Samala Murali Mohan Reddy, Guillaume Le Saux, Ran Zalk, Lonia Friedlander, together with Jose Mateo, Linda Zotti, Jesus Mandieta and their AUM team revealed the formation of long-range hydrophilic channels by the hierarchical assembly of cyclic peptides that leads to efficient proton transport. We also reveal a counter-ion doping effect that provides charge carriers to the system. These mechanisms together explain the exceedingly high conductivity of the cationic systems we developed

As we approach the end of 2024, the Flow Cytometry Resource (FCR) will retire our FACSAriaII sorters, following last year’s decommissioning of the BD LSRII cytometers. While these retired instruments have been pivotal, we’re excited to embrace new technologies like the BD Symphony A1 and Cytek Aurora, which we’ve fully integrated into our lab over the last couple of years! In addition, we’ve recently expanded our cell sorting capabilities with two powerful new instruments: the Cytek Aurora CS (nicknamed "Link Hogthrob") and the BD S6 (nicknamed "Agnes Stonewick"). Both high-end cell sorters allow simultaneous collection of up to six populations. The Aurora CS also gives the benefits of full-spectrum flow cytometry and improved autofluorescence extraction. These newest additions to our cytometry catalog will serve to enhance our ability to support complex research. #CART #URMC #URochesterResearch #flowcytometry
