I’m quite focused on this obsession: how does the Gen AI world change as inference shifts to the edge in phones, computers, and other devices. Cloud AI is powerful and scalable but it’s also expensive and limited in terms of latency, privacy, and security. Edge AI has the potential to solve many of these challenges for many use cases. This surely has to be one of the biggest things to understand in 2024. The dynamics of inference compute - edge v cloud - and associated cost/capability. For developers and buyers these dynamics underly decisions that can lock in path dependency for years.
