In the remote reaches of Assam, India, a young boy named Jadav Payeng witnessed a devastating scene: the barren sandbars of the Brahmaputra River, devoid of life and plagued by erosion. At sixteen, moved by the death of wildlife due to the lack of vegetation, Jadav decided to act. He began planting bamboo on the desolate land, driven by a vision of a lush forest where life could thrive. Day by day, Jadav nurtured his growing plants, hauling water from the river, and protecting the saplings from natural threats. His solitary effort seemed like a mere drop in the ocean, yet his determination was unwavering. Over the years, Jadav's humble beginnings expanded into a vast green oasis, now known as the Molai Forest, spanning over 1,360 acres. The forest became a haven for wildlife, including elephants, tigers, rhinos, and numerous bird species. Jadav's relentless dedication turned the tide against erosion and rejuvenated the ecosystem. His work, initially unnoticed, eventually drew global attention, earning him the title "The Forest Man of India." Jadav’s story is a testament to the power of individual action and perseverance. This is a reminder for the Hike we are organizing tomorrow, from Godavari to Chapakharka and back (Total distance: approx 12km; Difficulty: Easy/Medium). Please note the details below: **Prehike • Everyone can join but please register and provide your details for record - https://lnkd.in/dZa2kZ6H • The hiking route is easy/medium level; some may feel it easy and some will feel it difficult so we will go slow to accommodate everyone. • All the Hike expenses needs to be self borne by individual. • The hike is organized under ChiyaGuff Sessions and the team will facilitate the route and have basic medical supplies and doctors along with us. **Hike Day before coming • Wear comfortable clothes, non slippery shoes. Preferably eat before coming. • Carry enough water and food. There are hotels at the top where we will stop by but the best is we go prepared. • Lets not carry valuables which can get misplaced. Carry only the required cash for the journey. **Plan • Meeting point is Lagankhel at 7am (Contact: Dr. Satish), after which we will take a public vehicle to Godavari.
