Twenty-seven of LCIS’s bold IB Diploma students embarked on the trip of a lifetime this June, spearheaded by Expedition Leader and DP head Mr Brooks.
The annual LCIS CAS (Creativity, Activity, Service) Expedition is a huge commitment for our IBDP students, not only for the action packed eleven-day trip, but for fundraising and preparation, and of course for the incredible experiences.

#ACIM OE TX 7, IV. THE UNIFIED CURRICULUM par 19-25 "If different abilities are applied long enough to one goal, the abilities themselves become unified." Par 23
“You made the effort to learn, and the Holy Spirit has a unified goal for all effort. He adapts the ego's potentials for excelling to potentials for equalizing. This makes them useless for the ego's purpose but very useful for His. If different abilities are applied long enough to one goal, the abilities themselves become unified. This is because they are channelized in one direction or in one way. Ultimately, then, they all contribute to one result, and by so doing, their similarity rather than their differences is emphasized. You can excel in many different ways, but you can equalize in one way only. Equality is not a variable state, by definition.” Par 23

As the Future Nobel Laureates Scholarship Program enters its fourth year, The Forum on Education Abroad and EF Study Abroad developed a case study on the impact of an education abroad program designed and implemented based on guidance from the Standards of Good Practice for Education Abroad.
We hope this study examining our experiences so far can be a helpful resource to colleagues across our community seeking to implement the Standards of Good Practice in their own education abroad programming: https://lnkd.in/exQmMzyW#EFStudyAbroad#studyabroad#internationaleducation#educationabroad
🎓 Our AF5 Structured Study Plan starts in two weeks! So if you are sitting this one in September join us now...
This exam is essential to achieve chartered status, it relies heavily on exam technique as well as technical knowledge and our course is designed to support this. Our full analysis of the case study is included and our online forum where you can ask questions and discuss the exam with our expert and fellow students.

The Forum on Education Abroad did a case study on the Future Nobel Laureates Program. Check it out! My favorite takeaway was "Even experienced professionals and organizations need to update and re-evaluate their policies from time to time (5.1.2). Having strong, clear policies in place is a foundation for strong relationships and clear expectations between partner organizations and between program faculty/staff and program participants."
Also, applications are now open for this awesome international scholarship! (see post below)

Long Post - Fundraising Appeal
Unlock Life-Changing Experiences for Our Students! 🌎✈️
Planning for the 3rd annual global service-learning and culture trip to the Dominican Republic in March 2025 for our 8th-grade students!
Why Your Support Matters:
This year, we have seen unprecedented interest from our students, especially those from low-income families. The cost per student is approximately $3,900, which can be prohibitive for some. We believe that no student should be denied this life-changing opportunity due to financial constraints. That’s where you come in!
Our Goal:
We are raising funds to cover the costs for students whose families qualify for free or reduced lunch. Your contribution will help ensure that all interested students can participate in this transformative experience.
The Impact:
Our previous trips, in October 2022 and January 2024, showcased the immense benefits of service learning. Students immersed themselves in the culture, language, and environment of the Dominican Republic, engaging in meaningful service projects and building a global perspective.
Hear From Our Students and Parents:
Watch the video of last year’s student experience https://lnkd.in/dQCyu4Z4
How You Can Help:
We invite you to support this noble cause through donations. Your generosity will directly impact the lives of our students and the communities they serve.
Ways to Contribute:
By Check: Make checks payable to the '112Education Foundation', noting '8th Grade Trip' in the memo field, and mail to 445 Sheridan Road, Highwood, IL, 60040.
Online: Visit 112 Education Foundation Donation Page and specify '8th grade DR trip' in the tribute section (in honor or memory of someone). https://lnkd.in/dvckB3Mx)
Your support can truly make a difference. Together, we can provide our students with a life-changing educational experience and foster a brighter future for all.
We are at 50% of our fundraising goal of $60,000
Let's come together to empower the next generation through education and global service! 💪🎓

#NDDay is underway, where student organizations and community programs can benefit greatly from donated dollars. Below I share three organizations doing good work for campus and the community.
In memory of Dave Andedo, consider making a gift to the African Students Association of Notre Dame and SMC. Dave planned to earn his MBA from Notre Dame and I think he would have engaged with this group, sharing stories from his Kenyan culture, and assisting those who might be struggling to find community in a place that may be far from their home. To learn more and support this student organization, please follow this link: https://lnkd.in/gCt7pwfd
To embrace the beauty of diversity, consider giving to the Initiative on Race and Resilience. The Initiative is a think tank in the College of Arts and Letters that promotes multiracial collaboration, qualitative and quantitative methodologies, inclusive pedagogy, and engagement with the arts.
