Saw this Waymo self-driving car cruising around San Francisco today! 🚗💨 Over the years, I’ve seen these cars with drivers behind the wheel, but today, I was amazed to see it without any human driver behind the seats! How exciting to witness the advancements in autonomous driving technology. San Francisco continues to be a hub for innovation and futuristic tech. It’s amazing to see these developments firsthand. Waymo began fully operating its driverless cars on the streets of San Francisco in late 2022. They received their driverless deployment permit from the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC), allowing them to offer commercial ride-hailing services without a driver behind the wheel. Since then, Waymo’s fully autonomous vehicles have been providing rides to thousands of residents across San Francisco and have expanded to other areas like Daly City, Los Altos, Mountain View, and Palo Alto. They operate 24/7, offering a seamless and safe travel experience. #Waymo #SelfDrivingCars #AutonomousVehicles #SanFrancisco #Innovation #FutureTech #SmartCity #Technology #Transportation #UrbanMobility #AI #MachineLearning #AutonomousDriving

Autonomous driving - the future of mobility? Autonomous driving is one of the most exciting and disruptive innovations of our time. 💡 Developments in this area are being driven by cities such as Hamburg and Oslo. For example, the HEAT project, which has been testing the use of autonomous shuttle buses in public transport, has been running in Hamburg since 2019. Oslo has set itself the goal of becoming a car-free city by 2030 and is strongly promoting local public transport, among other things. In the AVENUE project, the city is testing the integration of autonomous vehicles into local public transport. 🚋 In addition to cities, companies are also important players in the field of autonomous driving. Companies such as Holo, Cruise and Waymo are leading the way in this area. While Holo is the leading implementer, integrator and operator of autonomous vehicles in Scandinavia and is also involved in the project in Oslo, Cruise and Waymo in the USA have already received approval to test their vehicles on public roads without safety drivers, which is an important step for the commercialization of autonomous driving technology. All these examples show: Autonomous driving has the potential to fundamentally change mobility and society in the coming years. We can't wait to see where it will take us. What do you think about autonomous driving? 🤔 #mobility #futureofmobility #autonomousdriving #newmobility #holo #cruise #waymo

#FridayReflextions – #Robocars -- Transforming Transportation Robocars, or autonomous vehicles, are poised to revolutionize transportation by leveraging #AI, machine learning & sensors to navigate without human intervention. These vehicles promise increased safety, reduced traffic congestion, & enhanced mobility for all. #Waymo: Leading the Charge Waymo, a subsidiary of Alphabet Inc., has emerged as a leader in the autonomous vehicle industry. Starting as Google’s self-driving car project, Waymo has now accumulated millions of miles of autonomous driving experience. In 2024, it significantly expanded its operations, offering fully autonomous ride-hailing services in Phoenix, San Francisco, Los Angeles, & Austin. It has driven over 20M miles autonomously & provides over 50,000 paid rides every week. #Waymo-vs-Uber: Uber has continued its autonomous vehicle development despite past setbacks, including a fatal accident in 2018. A notable recent development is Uber’s multi-year strategic partnership with Waymo, announced in May 2023. This collaboration integrates Waymo’s advanced autonomous technology into Uber’s platform, enabling driverless rides & deliveries in Phoenix. #Waymo-vs-Tesla: Tesla’s approach emphasizes Autopilot & Full Self-Driving (FSD) features for consumer vehicles. By July 2024, Tesla aims to offer a limited version of fully autonomous driving, but missed deadlines cast doubt on this timeline. Conversely, Waymo focuses on achieving full autonomy with no human intervention, utilizing a comprehensive sensor suite including LiDAR, which Tesla’s CEO Elon Musk has dismissed as unnecessary. While Waymo operates a growing fleet of autonomous taxis, Tesla’s Autopilot & FSD systems still require significant driver supervision. #FutureImplications The rise of robocars will bring significant changes: #Safety: Autonomous vehicles can reduce accidents caused by human error. #Efficiency: Optimized driving patterns can decrease traffic congestion. #Accessibility: Autonomous vehicles offer mobility solutions for those unable to drive. #EnvironmentalImpact: Integration with electric vehicles can lower emissions. #EconomicShift: New jobs & business opportunities will emerge, though some traditional driving-related jobs may decline. Waymo's strategic, data-driven approach distinctly sets it apart from competitors like Uber & Tesla, firmly establishing it as a leader in the autonomous vehicle space. Despite the challenges that lie ahead, Waymo's leadership & vision promise to revolutionize how we travel, setting new standards in the industry & creating lasting benefits for society. Now the #billiondollar question for you 😊 - Which company do you believe is best positioned to lead this transformation? #FutureOfTransportation #TechInnovation #AIinTransport #TransportationRevolution #MobilitySolutions #TechTrends #Waymo2024 #WaymoAutonomous Aicha Evans Bruce Baumgartner Bryan O'Sullivan

The evolution of autonomous vehicles is not just about technology; it's a reshaping of our urban landscapes and how we think about transportation. This development in Austin marks another milestone in the journey towards a more connected and automated future. "The company announced Tuesday that it will begin shuttling employees around 43 square miles of the Texas capital, including the Barton Hills, Riverside, East Austin and Hyde Park neighborhoods, as well as downtown Austin. The company announced Tuesday that it will begin shuttling employees around 43 square miles of the Texas capital, including the Barton Hills, Riverside, East Austin and Hyde Park neighborhoods, as well as downtown Austin. The step forward comes just a few days after Waymo won the ability to start charging for rides in expanded territory across both Los Angeles and the San Francisco Bay Area. Waymo didn’t offer a timeline for when it plans to start offering autonomous rides to the citizens of Austin. When it does, it will become the fourth city where the company’s robotaxis are officially in operation, following LA, SF and Phoenix." https://lnkd.in/eb7H5gcB
