Pause and double-check! Are your paws protected? Every day – on every jobsite – hand-safety awareness is just as important as a hands-on work ethic. But still, hand injuries are some of the most common – and most preventable – accidents in the workplace. A few handy stats (National Safety Council, U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics): - Average workers' comp costs for a hand injury can range from $20,000 to $25,000 - More severe injuries, such as amputations, average about $95,000 per claim - Hand injuries account for nearly one-third of all workplace injuries - 70% of hand injuries occur because workers aren't wearing gloves - 30% happen because the gloves are inadequate or damaged Remember your safety training, glove up, be aware, and use proper lifting techniques. Stay safe! https://hubs.la/Q02zQvkg0 Big thanks to the National Safety Council for their relentless dedication to worker safety! #NSM #HandSafety #SafetyMonth #JobsiteSafety

Just a heads up to you employers with more than 20 employees and you’re required to keep track of your OSHA reportable injuries. Today 3/2/24, is the deadline to submit your OSHA 300A log information electronically to OSHA, even if you had zero injuries in 2023. If you missed the deadline you should still report them. Any questions you can go to OSHA.gov and look up ITA.

🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨 **INDIGO'S DAILY SAFETY TOPICS** 🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨 Today, let's discuss a topic crucial to the health and safety of workers in various industries: OSHA confined spaces. These are areas not necessarily designed for people but where employees often find themselves working, such as tanks, vaults, and pipelines. OSHA regulation plays an essential role in ensuring the safety of workers in these spaces. In accordance with OSHA's confined spaces standards, employers are obligated to ensure: 1/ 💡 **Adequate ventilation**: The confined space must have ample ventilation to prevent harmful substance accumulation that could put an employee at risk. 2/ 🚨 **Access & Exit planning**: Entrances and exits should be strategically planned for use in emergencies. 3/ 🛡️ **Training**: Employees working in these spaces must receive adequate training to handle potential dangers. It's no secret that the implementation of these measures significantly reduces workplace mishaps tied to confined spaces. Ensuring compliance with OSHA's standards not only safeguards the lives of employees but contributes to improving productivity and the bottom line as well. Finally, let me conclude by stressing that safety should never be compromised. We all have a role to play in ensuring safe work environments. Whether you're an employee, employer, or safety officer, remember your actions influence the safety dynamic of your organization. Now I would love to hear from you: 1. How are you implementing OSHA's standards in your work environment? 2. Do you have any experiences or insights to share about confined spaces safety? #safetyfirst #OSHA #workplacesafety #confinedspaces #industrialhygiene #safetymanagement #riskmitigation #workplaceculture 👷♀️👷♂️🔧⚠️🚧📚🔒💡🛠️🚨

August 7-13, 2023 is Safe + Sound Week! Today's highlight is worker participation. Effective safety and health programs tap into workers' collective experiences, knowledge, and insights in order to find solutions to workplace safety and health challenges. Workers can participate in many ways, including: - Developing the initial program design. - Reporting incidents (including near misses) so they can be investigated. - Analyzing hazards associated with routine and nonroutine jobs, tasks, and processes. - Defining and documenting safe work practices. - Conducting site inspections and incident investigations. - Training current coworkers and new hires. - Evaluating program performance and identifying ways to improve it. I must emphasize the importance of employers/supervisors listening to their employees. Especially if multiple individuals are contacting about the same issue. At least a simple "We will get back to you with a solution soon" is enough. But zero acknowledgement of a legitimate safety concern is rather disconcerting.
