Employee Spotlight Erin Nardozzi, MPA Our employee spotlight is shining! Erin Nardozzi, MPA, a Practice Transformation Consultant at GLIN IPA, provided the following insights into her life, in and out of the office. What does your job entail? As a Practice Transformation Consultant (PTC), I am a liaison between network practices and GLIN IPA. I meet with practices monthly to review quality performance data and quality improvement processes and communicate updates from GLIN IPA, to name just a few things. I am on the road a lot. Who inspired you to pursue the career you have today? One person who immediately comes to mind is Pat Warrington. She was the Assistant Director of Alumni at UB Law School when I worked there in my late teens and has been a role model to me ever since. Concerning my current career, Vinny Lauricella convinced me to apply to GLIN IPA several years ago, and my husband, Dave, supported me with this career change. Tell me something about you that most people don’t know. When I was eight (8) years old, I was a self-proclaimed shark expert and decided to borrow the bestseller “Jaws” by Peter Benchley from the library. I read the whole book. Allegedly, my teacher was not happy about it. What is your favorite place to eat in Buffalo? I can’t choose just one. Lately, I’ve been enjoying Taisho Bistro and Brunner’s Tavern. What is the best advice you can give someone who has just started his or her career? Two things: 1. Not everyone is going to like you, period. Don’t let that impede you. 2. You won't figure everything out right away. It takes a decent amount of time. Just keep going.

How intentional are you about how you spend your time at work? I love this concept of Ram Krishnan tracking his time into five key categories: running the business, people & culture, long-term strategy, learning and relationships. I also love that learning gets an equal footing with running the business! It's that important, even at the top to keep investing in your own learning. #timemanagement #continiouslearning #thehaloplanner #pepsi

Are our future business leaders too soft? Today I judged high school students in DECA competition (it’s basically like lettering in Business where the high scorers go on to State competition) The category was Restaurant Management, and the students had to decide the fate of a financially strapped employee who was caught stealing food Only 1 out of 7 competitors argued that workers need to understand there are consequences to stealing, and the employee would be made an example of if caught again The other 6 all acknowledged stealing was definitely against policy, but since there was already so much wasted food in the world, and the employee was otherwise a hard worker (some of them assumed), they proposed really creative solutions aimed at maintaining the employee’s job and dignity In similar scenarios, I’ve given employees a warning and then the boot, but then again I’m a ruthless Generation X’er As the next generation prepares to enter the work force, I think their empathy is a good thing—the silver lining around being “too soft” What would you do?

Anyone who loves brands and strategy has an opinion about Roger Martin. I happen to be a fan. His most recent post on medium is subtitled "Cheeseburger & Pepsi". This quote sums up the main point, referencing the popular Olympia Diner SNL skit from the late 70s: "If you think you need help from a ‘strategy consulting firm,’ you will be at Olympia Restaurant and what will be on offer is cheeseburger & Pepsi, regardless of what you want or need. Cheeseburger is a case team and Pepsi is insights from your direct competitors." His point is that the main value a Big 3 firm is going to bring to you is knowledge that others have - whether that's from a business school class, from working with your competitors, or from a basic quant study that your competitors have run a variation of themselves. Now, I happen to have quite a few good friends who work (or have worked) at big management consulting firms who I know are good people doing good work, and who produce results for clients. But I will say this: there is only so far that "best practices" can get you. What really has the power to transform brands and help them break out in their category is new insight into the what truly drives decision-making and preference among their customers. That's #Humantruth. https://lnkd.in/gdcCqf7G

Rothschild & Co’s Global Advisory business and Redburn Atlantic recently hosted its inaugural annual Consumer Conference, convening a senior political leader and senior business leaders from across a range of consumer goods companies and consumer investors to discuss how they are managing their businesses in an increasingly uncertain geopolitical environment. While the global consumer goods industry has shown remarkable resilience in the face of inflation and supply chain disruptions in recent years, managing geopolitical risks remains high on the agenda of boardrooms across the consumer sector. The conference highlighted diverse perspectives on growth, innovation, and resilience in the sector, underscoring the importance of adaptability in a rapidly changing global landscape. We were proud to be joined by the then Deputy Prime Minister of the UK and CEOs of both public and private companies, including Associated British Foods, The Coca-Cola Company and its largest bottler, Coca-Cola Europacific Partners, Califia Farms, JAB (Keurig Dr Pepper, JDE Peets, Coty, Pret etc.), Olam, PAI ( Refresco, Froneri, Tropicana etc.) and Upfield, among others. #GlobalAdvisory #RedburnAtlantic #ConsumerGoods #GeopoliticalAdvisory
