5 Points to keep in mind when applying for Architecture Internships : Part 2 1. Know the Organisation - Be thorough with the company and their work to let them know that you're highly interested in the role. 2. Prepare yourself for the INTERVIEW - Show your willingness to work with the company. Do not negatively talk about the previous organisations if you're applying for a job. It can be a trap!!! 3. Do not apply at the LAST MOMENT - Don't take too much time to apply for internship in the type of company you want to intern with. 4. In-person VISIT - This is highly recommended but for that do not forget to print high quality portfolio print. (Read caption of Part 1 to know more about Portfolios) 5. Accept REJECTIONS - Accept Rejections and do not get discouraged. Instead move on and keep pitching to the companies you want to work with. Learn from your mistakes and sharpen your strengths. Introducing Lizzy, our talented architecture 🛠 intern! Here's a glimpse into who she is: Where are you from? Charlotte, North Carolina Best advice someone has given you? Take one day at a time, the moment you start worrying about the past or the future you stop living in the present. What are you looking forward to the most this year? I am most looking forward to exploring and completing my thesis year at college this upcoming school year. What’s one thing that could instantly make your day better? A warm smile from a friend. Who inspires you? My godmother--she is the most generous person I know, very hardworking and talented but she is so solid in her reliance on God. What’s the most impressive thing you can do? I build guitars. What are you passionate about? Adaptive reuse projects that help house or provide safe spaces for low-income families. If you could only eat one food for the rest of your life, what would it be? Tacos. Favorite part about the internship? Meaningful conversations with other interns that show me more of God's heart for His creation.

I have a bachelor's degree in Architecture and I quit to pursue Product Design. I studied architecture because I was excited about designing spaces that people could truly call home. While I was pursuing my bachelors, I'd always dreamt of designing spaces with love, passion and fire that’d keep me motivated to wake up and do the same thing all over again. But, by the time I completed my internship and thesis in the final year of my bachelor's, I realized that the passion and fire I once carried for architecture had faded. I no longer had the excitement I initially felt about my future in the field. I felt something was missing, something was extremely off. That’s when I started exploring career options that involved design, strategy, and business. I connected with people on #LinkedIn, and industry professionals to broaden my understanding and find my path. That’s when everything fell into its place—I knew exactly what I wanted to do. The next few months, I went all in. I took courses, developed my portfolio and updated my resume to land my first internship. Now, I absolutely love doing what I do and I look forward to waking up every single day to work and dive knee-deep into what I’ve always loved—Designing. Transitioning? I don’t think so, because I've always been a designer at heart, whether it's crafting buildings or user experiences to effectively communicate and understand ecosystems. Jahnavi Shah inspired me to share my story and this is exactly how it unfolded. ✨ #students #career #transition

5 Tips on how to find Architecture Internship:- 1. Quality Emails over Quantity: We have formed the perception of massing emailing as the quickest way to find an internship which is absolutely wrong. Instead of mass emailing, write to the quality firms by sounding more personal. So that it should look like you are really interested in doing an internship in that particular company. 2. Local Architectural Associations: Go and dig into the websites of local Architectural Associations to find the list of firms and their contacts. This will reduce a lot of your time wasting on just googling. 3. Strong Portfolio: Keep your resume and portfolio updated with strong USPs. If you are aiming for a particular firm for the internship, look into their websites and see which software is used more or whom are they currently recruiting. Highlight that particular skill set in your portfolio. Again, your USPs should be strong. 4. Look through the company's website: When you are aiming to work in a particular company, you should keep checking their openings. Don't wait to update your portfolio when there is an opening. 5. LinkedIn Recruiters: Many of the firms, hire interns through LinkedIn Recruiters. So you should definitely be in touch with such recruiters. They are hiring on behalf of companies. Do let me know in the comments section if you are struggling to get an internship. #architecture #architect #archdaily #archilovers #art #architecturestudent #architecturephotography #interiors #interiordesign #interiordecor #interior #design #designer #india #internship Are you looking for an internship? https://lnkd.in/gQPTMK7c

Students enter into Architecture school full of excitement. But the reality, they find the field is disappointing for many. 50% of Graduates don't want to join traditional firms after they finish their studies. Why? When the students go for internships they realize that most firms operate in the following areas: 1. Rigid Practice Models: Most firms lack flexibility and resist innovation, making it hard for young architects to thrive. 2. Work-Life Imbalance: Architecture is known for its high-stress environment, with long hours and intense pressure that leaves little room for personal time. 3. Limited Growth Opportunities: Traditional firms don't offer much in terms of career progression, leaving talented individuals feeling stuck. It's time to rethink how the industry operates and consider the impact it's having on future architects. #architecture #architects #designers #design
