#CSR | How does technology impact the ecological transition? The digital sector now accounts for almost 4% of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions worldwide, twice the footprint of the aviation sector. However, digital technologies are essential to the ecological transition: • #IoT, #Robotics and #AI can improve energy management in all sectors and promote many low-emission technologies • More than 2/3 of the UN SDGs can benefit directly from them At LACROIX, we don't believe that the solution to the ecological crisis is purely technological, but we are convinced that technology is essential for addressing environmental and societal challenges. As a technology and industrial company, we need to focus on applications that make the greatest contribution to the ecological transition. Our commitment to useful and eco-designed technology is a core component of our positive impact strategy. To achieve this, we have set ambitious, time-bound, quantified and public objectives. As calls to fight climate change become more urgent, companies are finding ways to become part of the solution—and technology can help. McKinsey research indicates that cloud-powered solutions can fast-track the implementation of nearly half of the decarbonization initiatives required to achieve a 1.5°C pathway by 2050. “As companies gear up to comply with increasingly complex sustainability regulations, strategic use of cloud-powered technologies can be a crucial differentiator,” write McKinsey’s Cindy Levy, Fan Gao, Eric Hannon, and coauthors. As CES 2024 wraps up, check out these insights to learn how three predominantly cloud-powered technologies—artificial intelligence, machine learning, and the Internet of Things (IoT)—can help accelerate decarbonization initiatives, and dive into more insights on climate-smart agriculture, climate investing, and scaling critical climate technologies. Revisit this page for more insights on some of the topics that headlined #CES2024…

🥇First Time for the GreenTech Forum Brussels Victor Lambert (IJO) shared some thoughts on the environmental benefits of IT. 👉Between sobriety and new technologies (hello #IoT and #AI), it is important to consider all the impacts (positive and negative). 😇 And of course, beyond the environment (with the social impact). #GreenIT #SustainableIT #ITforGreen

🌊 Did you know that by 2050, there could be more plastic in the ocean than fish? Let that sink in for a second. Our oceans are the lifeblood of the planet, holding 80% of Earth’s biomass. When they suffer, we all feel it. But this isn’t just about doom and gloom. It’s about taking action. IoT tech has huge potential to combat this crisis by monitoring and creating real-time solutions for ocean health. Let’s use innovation to rewrite the future of our oceans 🌍✨ Check out how we’re tackling this ➡️ https://lnkd.in/gVn2Y2Zu

What we need are stronger signals from Government of the role of technology in emissions reduction. This doesn’t even have to be about new money. With billions already going into science, R&D commercialisation, innovation ecosystems, infrastructure and skills the question should be asked each time “do you want emissions reduction with that?” A climate tech roadmap is a pretty standard tool used internationally to indicate timelines and priorities which helps attract and focus private capital in alignment with Govt priorities. #seetomorrowfirst #nztech #climatetechroadmap

The EU project CLIMATE FRIENDLY CAMP has successfully completed its first year of implementation. Looking back, we are pleased with the results achieved during this period. The project introduces an innovative business model aimed at addressing key challenges in the tourism industry, particularly in terms of mitigating the impacts of climate change and promoting green and digital transition. Penta is developing an application based on an integration platform, as well as a monitoring and management system for various technological solutions such as water dispensers, recycling machines, composters, and meteorological stations. Additionally, a system for rewarding end users, specifically campers, is being developed. The Internet of Things (IoT) will connect all these technological solutions, and artificial intelligence algorithms will be utilized for data processing. The application will process and integrate real-time data on water consumption, air quality, recycled packaging, composting materials, and production, thereby enabling improved decision-making and action in camp business management. --> https://lnkd.in/dDihztAa #euproject #innovation #innovativesolution #systemintegrator #smartcity #IoT #AI

Leaders in the energy industry are quickly recognizing the impact of generative AI on sustainable initiatives. According to KPMG, 43% of executives are considering its potential for environmental monitoring and management. AI plays a pivotal role in fostering sustainable practices and ensuring compliance with ecological regulations by analyzing emissions data and supporting strategic, eco-friendly operational decisions. However, a major challenge lies in acquiring detailed and comprehensive environmental data. The effectiveness of AI in carbon control hinges on the depth and quality of available datasets. Companies can improve data collection by investing in advanced sensors and IoT technology, enabling more accurate and diverse metrics. This, in turn, allows businesses to leverage AI capabilities to enhance their environmental impact strategies. Moreover, the application of AI extends beyond the utilities industry; for instance, generative AI in the automotive sector holds promise for mitigating climate change. Embracing such innovations represents a significant stride towards a more sustainable and environmentally conscious future. #CarbonCapture #Sustainability #GenerativeAI #EnvironmentalImpact #Innovation #IoT #ClimateChange
