What do you do when you have two or three offers at hand? The industry is full of such awesome talent and everyone out there wants to have the best salary and the best benefits. But how you decline one for the other, matters. I remember cases where the candidate is already aware that they want to decline a specific offer as the other one was in line with the career goal yet do not call it out on time. The minute you know that you are about to decline the opportunity, you must inform the recruiter politely. Why? Because it shows that you respect the opportunity, organization and the people involved. Absconding or not responding to calls or failing to inform the organization intentionally is not a right approach as it ends up impacting the perception created. By informing the organization early on, you allow the company to also start looking at a back-up thus showing empathy and humility. Having said this, do remember that one cannot control how people react, so focus on being kind, if not for anyone, but for yourself.

There are all kinds of reasons why you might be tempted to mention that you're job searching to your friends at work or even to your boss. Maybe you like your current role, except for the paycheck, and hope that sharing your search might inspire the company to offer you a raise. Or you're close to your colleagues and feel weird about leaving them out of the loop. Regardless of the reason, it's not a good idea. In most cases, your employer can terminate your employment if they find out you're interviewing for other roles. Here's why (and what to do instead). #jobsearch #jobsearchtips https://lnkd.in/gvAtDukV

Are you considering hopping to a new company within a year of starting at your current one? It's a tempting move, especially when the other company's vision inspires ofcourse coming with lucrative offer. However, before making any decisions, it's important to weigh the potential benefits and drawbacks. On one hand, making a move early in your career can allow you to gain new experiences and skills, network with different professionals, and potentially increase your salary. On the other hand, it can also be seen as a red flag to future employers who may question your loyalty and commitment. Ultimately, the decision to stay or go should be based on your personal and professional goals, as well as the overall company culture and potential for growth. Remember to carefully consider all factors before making a move, and don't be afraid to seek advice from trusted mentors or colleagues. #interviewadvice #interview #hiring #hrtips

Why do some really qualified people miss out on job offers? The answer might surprise you... "DISHONESTY" As someone who helps companies find great talent from all over, I’ve seen this happen many times. A person will agree to a salary—let’s say $500—at the start of the hiring process. But when they finally talk to the employer, they suddenly ask for $1,500. You may think it's a smart move but it isn't... It can ruin your chances of getting the job. Employers want to hire people they can trust. Changing what you agreed to at the last minute makes it seem like you’re not reliable or don’t respect the process. It raises concerns about whether you’ll handle other important things in the future the same way. Now, there’s a better way to go about it. If a candidate says, "I talked about $1,500 with the recruiter, but I’m open to discussing other options if possible." Now, that response is clear and honest. It shows that you're flexible without breaking trust. Being honest is a big advantage in your career. It affects how others see you and can make a huge difference when it comes to getting the job. Stick to your word, communicate clearly, and respect the hiring process. Being truthful isn’t just about doing the right thing... It’s also about setting yourself up for a strong, successful career #honesty #careersuccess #hiring

Did you know, there’s a 103.142% chance of you leaving your current company within 6 months of accepting a counter offer? 📉 Okay, you got me. This is another BS stat you see floating around these days. I don’t even know the official stat anymore as see so many conflicting ones! 🤷♂️ What I do know however, is that in the majority of cases, a small pay rise you deserved 12 months earlier won’t fix the issues. You’re just putting a plaster over it. 🩹 My advice – before you go looking for a new role, address your concerns with your employer initially. Whether this is around career development, financials, team dynamics, flexibility etc, and see whether any amendments can be made. If not, then you can wholeheartedly throw yourself into your job search knowing it’s the right decision for you. You need to then remember this should a counter offer come your way! 💡 Don't accept a temporary solution that doesn't address the root causes 🛑 #recruitment #recruiting #hiring #counteroffer #sales #marketing #customersuccess #tech

𝐒𝐜𝐞𝐧𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐨: You find a job that aligns with your skillset. The comp is good, but the title is at a lower level than it should be. My advice proceed with caution! 🛑 There are many reasons why this may happen, but I believe the top three are: ➡️ Companies can then pay you less in the long run. ➡️ Companies can make you look less desirable for companies in your industry to poach. ➡️ OR companies simply don’t know and aren’t aligned with what the job title should accurately be for the position they are hiring for. Suppose you take an opportunity that does not align with your actual responsibilities. If you ever look to work elsewhere, you may encounter obstacles in your job search. Titles DO carry weight at the end of the day. As an Executive Recruiter, assumptions about what someone knows or has experienced and their job title can be part of the equation when considering and contacting them for a new #opportunity. Suppose you accept a title that is less than the work you are executing and responsible for. Then, you could be missing out on higher-level opportunities that I have in my back pocket. So, think twice before accepting a role and compromising on a title unless you know that and are comfortable with accepting and understanding the whole picture.
