Summer ammonia removal via nitrification is less of a challenge for lagoons than cold weather ammonia removal, as nitrifying bacteria are temperature sensitive and thrive in warmer water. The interplay between algae and bacteria, dissolved oxygen, pH, and temperature determines the pathway and rate of nitrification. Read our tips on how a lagoon can be optimized for summer ammonia removal. https://zurl.co/QaU4

I gave a presentation on the procedure known as "Desalinating Saltwater" using carbon dioxide," which is necessary to make drinking water. To eliminate the hazardous ions (sodium and chlorine) from the water, researchers go through multiple desalination processes. Therefore, the key to defeating the salts is the use of carbon dioxide and nucleophilic amines.

Are you facing challenges with ammonia removal during colder months? Bioaugmentation is commonly attempted to improve ammonia removal in wastewater lagoons, particularly during cold weather, when temperature-sensitive nitrifying bacteria become less effective. But bioaugmentation is often only a temporary solution since lagoons typically can’t sustain a robust population of nitrifying bacteria in cold conditions. BioCord™ Reactors are like a condominium for bacteria that provide a massive surface area and the ideal conditions to establish and maintain a robust, cold-tolerant biofilm. Learn how this simple, low-energy system can cost-effectively offer a better home for nitrifying bacteria and improve year-round ammonia removal. https://lnkd.in/g_TECTd3 #wastewater #bioaugmentation #bacteria #biofilm #ammonia

A wastewater pond requires sufficient Dissolved Oxygen (DO) to satisfy Biological Oxygen Demand (BOD) and Nitrogenous Biochemical Oxygen Demand (NBOD). Without DO, a pond can experience odors and high effluent BOD and even go septic. Read more to learn where DO goes. https://zurl.co/sKgw

Vertical flow #reed beds: Wastewater flows vertically through the bed from one end to the other, passing through gravel at the base. The roots of the reeds reach into the gravel to find water, and oxygen is transferred to the water through the roots. This oxygen-rich environment encourages bacteria growth. Reeds transfer oxygen from their leaves, down through their stem, and out through their root system into the rhizosphere. This creates a high population of microorganisms in the rhizosphere which can break down BOD. Horizontal flow reed beds: These beds operate anaerobically, without oxygen. They turn nitrates into nitrogen gas through De-Nitrification. #Nature_Based_Solutions

The Domestic Sewage Integrative Purifier functions to treat domestic wastewater before reusing it for domestic purposes. There are four processes, the first is the anaerobic process (breaks down pollutants into methane gas), the second is the anoxic process (denitrification), the third is the aerobic process (breaks down pollutants with oxygen) and the fourth is precipitation (sedimentation).

Wastewater is used water affected by domestic, industrial and commercial use. Wastewater effluents are released to a variety of environments, such as lakes, ponds, streams, rivers, estuaries and oceans. There are physical, chemical and biological indicators that may affect wastewater quality, including temperature, total suspended solids (TSS), pH value, oxygen and oxygen demand, nitrogen, phosphorus, chlorine and micro-organisms. Read the article below where we highlight key wastewater indicators & testing methods of wastewater quality including oxygen demand, total ammonia nitrogen, total phosphate and total nitrogen. https://lnkd.in/ejxJt3UK #RockerCODTesting #WasteWater #WaterQualityTesting #Article #WasteWaterIndicators
