A new study by the Centre for Mental Health has highlighted a pressing need to tackle ageist assumptions and expectations about mental health in later life. Poor mental health is not an inevitable part of ageing. Far from it. By taking proactive steps and focussing on our health - both physical and mental - we can ensure our later years are fulfilling, active and happy. Integrated Retirement Communities have a key role to play in supporting people to 'lean-in' to their retirement years. Through our regular events and proactive approach to wellbeing, we will help our homeowners to combat any loneliness, remain active and healthy, embrace new challenges and maintain their independence. It's time to rethink our later years, tackle ageism head-on and focus on ensuring a good mental wellbeing as we age. Founder of Ah-ha Healing, Solving emotional and mental health crisis. We get to the core root of dis-ease.
Finding faith Friday post…do you know your root cause of feelings without diagnosis? The first sentence of this article present the entire examination of the work we do here at AH-HA Healing Online Inc. Here is the question: what if many people today who believe they have a “mental illness” just have unresolved emotional pain that presents symptoms of what our world wants to diagnose? This is the most important fundamental question. Our love affair with explanations and diagnosis in the world of “mental health” has robbed many people of true healing. Getting to the core root of emotional pain is a science. It took 30 years for me to write it and 15 years to test theory in technology, in person and with other practitioners. This is what we did learn: 99% of the world has unresolved emotional pain that occurred prior to your 10th birthday. This pain is the buried into the 4 quadrants of self. Old emotional pain is like tiny eruptions inside the self that are easily activated when people are emotional. Technology (being raised inside social media since they were children) will create Pavlovian results of disconnection so deep they have no awareness of their buried feelings. No coping skills. No tools to manage any influx of emotions. No regulation. And sadly…most technology re-injures the very tools that most mental health practitioners are trying to heal…it’s futile. Everyone should be educated around the complex system of the science of emotional pain and the impacts of technology on that system. Emotional pain disconnects you from the source of all knowing being that provides necessary comfort and healing. Emotional pain creates blinders and silences the very inner knowing you need heal. Most children today/youth today do not know a world where they are are not connected to a device and disconnected from their infinite source of love. We know why. When kids entered the world of digital…it’s wasn’t just them that got lost inside the behaviour conditioning system…so did their parents. Parents got acceptably “high” with their kids and are still high today. No other time period in history did this occur.
Anxiety and depression is spiking among young people. No one knows why.

Mental Health Awareness has gone too far. Too many people are now becoming aware and that is the last thing we need. What we need is for people to navigate life unquestioning and numb. The last thing we need is awareness, because when people become aware they may start to question things. Questions like why are 8.3m adults taking medication for depression? Because we are too aware or because our suffering is rooted in an unyielding environment that is wholly at odds with harmonious living and drugs are helping us to get through? Awareness was great a few years ago, quite the political battle ground. Now the dark realities start to unpeel it’s time to shut the box? Too late. There’s a reason so many people are suffering and the solutions lie a bit deeper than trying to close the lid on a box that’s been flung open!

Age does not provide immunity to mental health challenges. (Mental Health in Older Adults 101) At True Care Medical Billing, we have realized over the years that prioritizing mental health is not only vital for the young and mid-aged; it is equally crucial for our older adults. Here are three simple techniques we practice and recommend: 1: Direct Attention to Mental Health How it works: → Acknowledge the importance of mental health. → Understand that it impacts overall well-being and quality of life. → Recognize that it is as essential as physical health. Using this approach, we ensure a holistic approach to health care, emphasizing both physical and mental health. 2: Provide Emotional Support How it works: → Be present and available for older adults in our lives. → Be a listening ear and offer words of comfort. → Understand their unique challenges such as loneliness, loss of independence, and grief. This simple show of emotional support can significantly improve their mental well-being and build stronger relationships. 3: Encourage Conversations About Mental Health How it works: → Start discussions about mental health. → Share resources that can help. → Remind them that they are valued, loved, and their mental health matters. By initiating conversations about mental health, we can contribute to reducing the stigma and ensuring older adults feel comfortable seeking help when needed. Implement these three techniques, and you'll be making a significant difference in the lives of older adults, promoting mental health awareness, and helping them lead healthier, happier lives. Remember, it's never too late to start a conversation about mental health. Because mental health matters, regardless of age. #MentalHealth #OlderAmericansMonth
